RESOLUTION NO.
5-80
A RESOLUTION IN FAVOR OF REGULATING THE NOISE AT
O'HARE AIRPORT
¡WHEREAS, the Village of Mount Prospect is a municipal corporate
organization chartered within the State of Illinois and the
¡County of Cook; and
¡WHEREAS, the public officials of the Village of Mount Prospect
¡represent a population of over 54,000 Illinois residents; =d
¡WHEREAS, the Village of Mount Prospect has a particular interest
in the environmental effects of operations at O'Hare Airport; and!
WHEREAS, the ongoing O'Hare/Midway Master Plan calls for an
increase in average airport operations per hour from 158 operatio s
in 1980 to 198 operations in 1995 at 0' Hare;' and
WHEREAS, the Village of Mount Prospect feels such a dramatic
increase in operations without additional controls to limit or
reduce noise pollution is detrimental to its citizens and the
surrounding environment.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT' RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND BOARD OF' TRUSTEES
OF THE VILLAGE OF MOUNT PROSPECT, COOK COUNTY, ILLINOIS:
SECTION ONE: That the Village of Mount Prospect endorses the
concept of regulating and reducing the impact of airport noise.
I SECTION TWO: That the Village of Mount Prospect requests the
Illinois Pollution Control Board to take immediate action to limi
I additional airport noise at O'Hare Airport.
SECTION THREE: That copies of this Resoltuion shall be forwarded
lito the Illinois Pollution Control Board, the Federal Aviation
,Administration, and the Chicago Department of Aviation.
SECTION FOUR: That this Resolution shall be in full force and
effect from and after its passage and approval in the manner
provided by law.
