RESOLUTION NO. 6-80
I A RESOLUTION IN SUPPORT OF THE NORTHWEST COOK COUNTY
I PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION PLAN
WHEREAS, the Village of Mount Prospect recognizes the need for public
transportation in the community; and
WHEREAS, recent inflationary times have brought increased cost in vehicles,
energy and parking; and
WHEREAS, recent studies conducted by the Village have indicated the need
for additional public transportation in the southern portions of the Village
to the railroad station and to Randhurst Shopping Center; and
WHEREAS, the Regional Transportation Authority and the Northwest Municipal
Conference have, through an Advisory Committee, studied transportation
I problems in the northwest suburbs and have developed the Northwest Cook
County Public Transportation Plan.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND BOARD OF TRUSTEES
OF THE VILLAGE OF MOUNT PROSPECT, COOK COUNTY, ILLINOIS:
SECTION ONE: That the Village of Mount Prospect has reviewed the
Northwest Cook County Public Transportation Plan and finds that its
reéommendations makes strides towards meeting the additional transportation
needs indentified in the Village.
SECTION TWO: That the Village of Mount Prospect supports the Northwest
Cook County Public Transportation Plan, and recommends the plans approved
by the Regional Transportation Authority Board.
SECTION THREE: That the Village of Mount Prospect urge the Regional
Transportation Authority to continue its support of the concept of feeder bus
systems to and from major transportation and employment centers with
particular emphasis in those areas of Mount Prospect along Rand Road,
Kensington Road, and Euclid Avenue.
SECTION FOUR: That copies of this Resolution become a part of the
minutes and submitted to the Regional Transportation Authority and the
Northwest Municipal Conference.
SECTION FIVE: That this Resolution shall be in full force and effect from
and after its passage and approval in the manner provided by law.
