A RESOLUTION ESTABLISHING THE VILLAGE OF MOUNT PROSPECT
"MILLENNIUM PROJECT" FOR THE YEAR 2000.
WHEREAS, the millennium presents a unique opportunity for the nation, states, counties,
cities and villages to celebrate their history and to proactively plan to better serve their
respective citizens in the year 2000 and beyond; and
WHEREAS, it is appropriate at the dawn of a new century to celebrate the achievements
and growth of the Village of Mount Prospect and its citizens; and
WHEREAS, the cooperative Millennium Project between the Village of Mount Prospect,
the Mount Prospect Public Library and the Mount Prospect Historical Society would help
create a sense of community among residents and create a sense of excitement about the
new millennium; and
WHEREAS, the project entitled "Memories for the Future" will instill in the youth of the
community a sense of appreciation for the Village and remind them what they enjoy about
living here;
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND BOARD OF TRUSTEES
OF THE VILLAGE OF MOUNT PROSPECT, COOK COUNTY, ILLINOIS:
SECTION ONE: That the Village of Mount Prospect will participate in the White House's
Millennium Communities Program.
SECTION TWO: That the Mayor and Board of Trustees authorize the establishment of
the Mount Prospect Millennium Project which will consist of collecting photos, fliers, and
personal histories which will examine young people's thoughts and memories of the
Village.
