A RESOLUTION ACKNOWLEDGING THE CONTRIBUTIONS OF
GEORGE A. CLOWES
WHEREAS, George A. Clowes has devoted his considerable time, experience, knowledge and
dedication to serving in the elected office of Village Trustee of the Vitlage of Mount Prospect for two terms,
from May 1991 to May 1999; and
WHEREAS, prior to becoming a Village Trustee, George A. Clowes served one term as a
Commissioner of the Mt. Prospect Park District; and
WHEREAS, George A. Clowes has consistently exhibited the highest degree of fairness,
compassion and reasoned thought in all of his deliberations regarding Village matters thereby providing
leadership and direction to his fellow Board members; and
WHEREAS, George A. Clowes has been an advocate for a common sense approach to
government that recognizes individual rights and stresses personal responsibility; and
WHEREAS, George A. Clowes has been a strong voice for fiscal restraint while supporting
essential, high quality services to residents and businesses; and
WHEREAS, GEORGE A. CLOWES has worked tirelessly, as both legislator and volunteer on
behalf of the youth of Mount Prospect to reduce the tragic consequences of underage drinking and driving;
the destructive influences of gangs and juvenile criminal activity; and the need to promote a public forum
to discuss youth related issues of the day; and
WHEREAS, GEORGE A. CLOWES as the first and only Chairman of Teens and Parents for a
Better Mount Prospect (TAP-Mount Prospect), has brought local, state and national recognition to the
innovative youth related legislation and support programs pioneered by the Village of Mount Prospect,
including, in 1994, a Governor's Home Town Award, many of which have served as models for similar
efforts by the State of Illinois and other municipalities; and
WHEREAS, GEORGE A. CLOWES has also served his community as a former President of the
Northwest Tax Watch Group and as a Cable Television Community Access Producer, always with the
goal of nurturing an active and informed electorate,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF
THE VILLAGE OF MOUNT PROSPECT, COOK COUNTY ILLINOIS:
SECTION ONE: That by this Resolution, the Mayor and Board of Trustees of the Village of
Mount Prospect express to George A. Clowes their deep gratitude for his dedicated, faithful and
constructive service as a member of the Village Board.
SECTION TWOS: That as a perpetual memento, a copy of this Resolution be spread upon the
Minutes of the Mount Prospect Village Board.
SECTION THREE: That this Resolution shall be in full rome and effect from and after its passage
and approval in the manner provided by law.
