Public Content Information This years Community Development Block Grant ( ) Sidewalk Programincludes replacement of existingsidewalk that s not comply with the standards for the Americans with Disability Act (ADA) at eligiblelocations in the Village; specifically r i r Street from I rs Algonquin location is in project area is attached. The CDBG programis a wholly federally funded urban neighborhood improvement program inis r the United States Department of Housingand Urbanvl m t (HUD). It avails federal money for specific improvements in geographic areas that satisfy HUD community needs criteria. A map depictingthese areas within the Village is attached. Bid Notice i rs was posted on the Demandstar by Onvia website and publishedin a local newspaper. Copies of the bid documentsproject l s are attached. The bid openingfor the 2019 CDBG SidewalkProgram s held on April 22, 2019 at 1:00 PM. Five ( ) contractors submitted i for this project. The bids ranged from low of $121,732-75 by Schroeder and Schroeder, Inc. to a high of $206,845.00 by Globe Construction, Inc. A summary of bidresults is denoted in the table below. it bid tabulation is attached. All bids were checked for their accuracy. No errors were found. All bidders correctly signed their bids and bid bonds. The low bidder, Schroeder and Schroeder ,, Inc. is qualified to complete the work involved with this project and meets the requirements of the contract documents. Schroeder and Schroeder,, Inc. has worked on previous Village sidewalk projects, including the 2016 and 2017 New Sidewalk Programs, 2016,, 2017 and 2018 Shared Cost Sidewalk Programs,, and 2015,, 2017 and 2018 CDBG Sidewalk Programs. Their work was completed to the satisfaction of the Village. The Village received a 2019 CDBG grant in the amount of $156,250.00 for sidewalk improvements. It is staff"s recommendation that the proposed contract be for an amount of $121,,732.75. The remaining grant funds will be used for a separate project to install a pedestrian crossing at Dempster Street and Linneman Road. Alternatives 1. Accept lowest cost., responsive bid for construction of the 2019 CDBG Sidewalk Improvements. 2. Action at discretion of Village Board.
