Northwest Highway Mount Prospect, Illinois 6005E BOARD F FIRE ANDPOLICE COMMISSIONERS MINUTES April 1, 2019 Public Safety Building Fire Department Conference Room Chairperson Powers called the meeting to order at 5:45 p.m. Roll Call: James Powers, Chairperson Rockne Bork, Commissioner Mark Busse, Commissioner Jeanna Claussen, Commissioner William Knee, Commissioner Also Present: John Koziol, Police Chief John Dolan, Deputy Fire Chief CITIZENS TO BE HEARD No one in attendance. APPROVAL OF MINUTES Chairperson Powers asked for a motion to approve the Open Session minutes of February 4, 2019. A motion was made by Commissioner Busse and seconded by Commissioner Claussen. Roll Call: Ayes: Bork, Busse, Claussen, Knee, Powers Nays: None Abstain: None Motion Carried FIRE DEPARTMENT UPDATE Deputy Fire Chief Dolan provided an update on personnel and the approval by the Village Manager for an anticipatory hire. Deputy Fire Chief Dolan invited them to the groundbreaking ceremony for the new building on Thursday, April 4 at 2:00 p.m. POLICE DEPARTMENT UPDATE Chief Koziol reported on staffing and Officer Chirila who will be sworn -in on May 2 at 3: p.m., POLICE DEPARTMENT NEW HIRE TEST FOR POLICE OFFICER Chief Koziol advised the Board that Command Staff from the Police Department met with the company representative from Stanard regarding selecting and validating the oral interview questions. Chief Koziol discussed the process for the night of the interviews, which includes a writing sample from each candidate and the interview with investigations. Chairman Powers asked the Board if they had any questions regarding the concept the Chief presented. The Written Test is scheduled for April 14, 2019, and we have over 235 applications. The Board agreed to schedule the oral interviews for May 6, May 7, and May 9 starting at 1:30 p.m. May 6 will be a regular meeting with training prior to the start of the interviews. The Board also discussed test requests and the consensus of the Board was to allow the military request to test overseas. The application turned in late would not be accepted. BOFPC Minutes 04/01/2019 Page 1 CLOSED SESSION Chairperson Powers asked for a motion to go into closed session: 1. Personnel 5 ILCS 120/2 (c) (1) -The appointment, employment, compensation, discipline, performance, or dismissal of specific employees of the public body, including hearing testimony on a complaint lodged against an employee to determine its validity 2. To Approved the Closed Session Minutes of February 4, 2019. 3. Review Questions for the police interviews. A motion was made by Commissioner Busse and seconded by Commissioner Bork to go into Closed Session at 6:21 P.M. Roll Call: Ayes: Bork, Busse, Claussen, Knee, Powers Nays: None Abstain: None Motion Carried The Board returned to Open Session at 7:03p.m, Roll Call: Chairman Powers, Commissioner Bork, Commissioner Busse and Commissioner Claussen The next meeting will be held on May 6 at 1:30 p.m. and include a training session by Stanard & Associates.
