A RESOL UTION A CKNO WLED GING THE MERITORIOUS
SERVICE OF DAVID O. ERB
TO THE VILLAGE OF MOUNT PROSPECT
WHEREAS, David Erb has served as the Director of Finance and Village Treasurer for the
Village of Mount Prospect faithfully and with great distinction for more than 15 years,
beginning his all too brief tenure on August 1, 2003; and
WHEREAS, David Erb has provided outstanding financial and organizational leadership
to the Village of Mount Prospect, a clear understanding of organizational needs and
priorities, managed with a commitment to carefully defined objectives, led with wisdom born
of experience and the courage to always do the right thing for the right reason; and
WHEREAS, David Erb has exemplified the utmost standards of public service and
stewardship as he led the Finance Department with his positive leadership and calm
demeanor- performing his fiduciary duties in an open and honest manner; and
WHEREAS, David Erb understood the mission of Public Safety professionals and the
demands placed on our first responders, and these professionals extend their appreciation
for Dave's problem solving abilities in crisis situations; and
WHEREAS, under the leadership of David Erb, the Finance Department was awarded the
Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting and the Distinguished
Budget Award every year under his direction; and
WHEREAS, David Erb successfully maintained the budget of the Village of Mount Prospect
by balancing the need for fiscal conservativeness with the need to deliver effective and
efficient services and community growth and development; and
WHEREAS, David Erb was instrumental in the successful development of strategic plan
goals for the Finance Department, created a Budget in Brief to better communicate the
annual budget in a concise and simplified format and coined the department slogan, "If it is
important to you, it matters to us; " and
WHEREAS, David Erb as a highly regarded and skilled professional in budgeting, capital
planning, capital funding, tax increment financing and public pensions; a genuine team
player who has a knack for explaining technical information to a non-technical audience,
and brought pride, integrity and professionalism to the workplace every day; and
WHEREAS, David Erb, will be remembered as a coveted member of the Leadership Team,
who performed his duties with integrity, patience and grace, trusted co-worker and mentor
who never wavered in his commitments, and although time -challenged, always came
through in the nick of time, competitive teammate who always strived to be the best even
when he wasn't (especially in step competitions); a wise friend who always sought light in
every situation, a kind and generous person who embodied the core values of the Village he
served; and
WHEREAS, David Erb will resign from service to the Village of Mount Prospect on April
11, 2019 to begin a new adventure as Director of Finance in Lewisville, Texas, a city
unaware of the luck that has befallen them -for their enormous gain is our immeasurable
loss.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND BOARD OF
TRUSTEES OF THE VILLAGE OF MOUNT PROSPECT, COOK COUNTY,
ILLINOIS:
SECTION ONE. That the Mayor and Board of Trustees of the Village of Mount Prospect
do hereby recognize David Erb for his more than 15 years of dedicated service to the
Village and hereby express our gratitude for his leadership and many contributions to the
community and extend our best wishes to him in all his endeavors.
SECTION TWO: That a copy of this Resolution be presented to David O. Erb as a
permanent record of the recognition, respect and reverence expressed herein.
