PROCLAMATION
A PROCLAMATION RECOGNIZING THE OUTSTANDING
ACCOMPLISHMENTS OF THE 2018-2019 LINCOLN SCHOOL LIONS WRESTLING TEAM
WHEREAS, the LINCOLN LIONS WRESTLING TEAM came together to commence the 2018-2019
wrestling season in the Village of Mount Prospect; and
WHEREAS, under the leadership of a supportive coaching staff, the LINCOLN LIONS WRESTLING
TEAM began what would become their greatest season ever; and
WHEREAS, the spirit and determination of the LINCOLN WRESTLING TEAM captured the
enthusiasm and devotion of students, staff and parents throughout the LINCOLN MIDDLE SCHOOL
community; and
WHEREAS, the LINCOLN WRESTLING TEAM came in first place in a highly competitive middle
school tournament, emerged undefeated in its regular season accomplishing this unprecedented
achievement through tenacity and hard work; and
WHEREAS, the LINCOLN WRESTLING TEAM was the conference dual champion with 6 individual
champions;
WHEREAS, this historic team boasted three (3) female wrestlers, who audaciously broke the
boundaries of a traditional male sport and contributed to the team's overall success; and
WHEREAS, for the first time in Lincoln's history, one (1) Lady Lion wrestler rose to qualify at
sectionals, the only female to do so, and with the rousing support of her teammates, competed with
courage and unflinching determination; and
WHEREAS, the LINCOLN WRESTLING TEAM sent five (5) qualifiers to state, one finalist placed
second, another three (3) placed, and this small team of athletes finished an impressive 12th in
state among 80 schools; and
WHEREAS, the LINCOLN WRESTLING TEAM not only competed with great skill and athleticism but
with a focus and commitment to good sportsmanship, humility and spirit; and
WHEREAS, the Mayor and Village Board of Trustees of the Village of Mount Prospect, on behalf of a
proud community, do hereby acknowledge and recognize the LINCOLN SCHOOL WRESTLING TEAM
for their outstanding achievements and for a truly historic wrestling season.
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Arlene A. Juracek, Mayor of the Village of Mount Prospect, do hereby proclaim
March 19, 2019 as a day of recognition and celebration for the achievements of the:
"LINCOLN SCHOOL WRESTLING TEAM"
And I encourage the Mount Prospect community to recognize the unforgettable and extraordinary
season of these young athletes of Lincoln Middle School.
