MINUTES
November 5, 2018

Chairperson Powers called the meeting to order at 5:46 p.m,

APPROVAL OF MINUTES
Chairperson Powers asked for a motion to approve the Open Session Minutes of September 24, 2018.
A motion was made by Commissioner Knee and seconded by Commissioner Claussen.
Roll Call: Ayes: Claussen, Knee, Powers Nays: None Abstain: None Motion Carried
CITIZENS TO BE HEARD
No one in attendance.
POLICE DEPARTMENT UPDATE
Deputy Chief Eterno reported the department will have two (2) possible retirements next year and the
Village Manager approved two (2) anticipatory hires. Deputy Chief Eterno provided an update on the oral
interviews scheduled for December 3 and 5. Out of the twenty-one (21) candidates contacted, six (6)
were still interested, ten (10) were no longer interested, and five (5) never submitted an application. The
Board agreed to hold their regular meeting on December 3 at 3:00 p.m. and schedule the interviews
following the meeting. The interview panel will include Commissioner Knee, Commissioner Claussen,
Commission Bork and two (2) members of the police department.
Chairman Powers asked for a motion to send a letter to the ten (10) individuals no longer interested,
which is the Board's general practice to identify and inform them they are removed from the list.

A motion was made by Commissioner Knee and seconded by Commissioner Claussen.

Chairman Powers asked for a motion to send Francisco Adame, Christina Diaz, Michael Goorsky,
Mathew Kazy-Garey and Ryan Konieczka who showed initial interest but did not respond to the
application process a letter to inform them they are off the list because they did not respond.
A motion was made by Commissioner Knee and seconded by Commissioner Claussen,

FIRE DEPARTMENT UPDATE
Fire Chief Lambel informed the Board of the graduation on December 14, the Toy Drive is on December
15 and he provided a brief update on staffing.

FIRE DEPARTMENT NEW HIRE TEST UPDATE
Fire Chief Lambel reviewed the Final Eligibility list for firefighter/paramedics. Fire Chief Lambel asked the
Board to approve the Final Eligibility List and the email he presented to send to the candidates. After
review and discussion, the Board approved the Final Eligibility List and email.
Chairman Powers asked for a motion to approve the Final Eligibility Register.
A motion was made by Commissioner Knee and seconded by Commissioner Claussen,.

Fire Chief Lambel asked to establish interview dates and they agreed to conduct interviews after the
regular meeting on January 7 and continue interviews on January 8.
CLOSED SESSION
Chairperson Powers asked for a motion to go into closed session:
1. Personnel 5 ILCS 120/2 (c) (1) -The appointment, employment, compensation, discipline,
performance, or dismissal of specific employees of the public body, including hearing
testimony on a complaint lodged against an employee to determine its validity
2. To approve the Closed Session minutes of September 24, 2018.
A motion was made by Commissioner Knee and seconded by Commissioner Claussen to go into Closed
Session at 6:09 p.m.
Roll Call: Ayes: Claussen, Knee, Powers Nays: None Abstain: None Motion Carried
The Board returned to open session at 6:18 P.M.
Roll Call: Chairman Powers, Commission Claussen, and Commissioner Knee,
OTHER BUSINESS
None
With no further business, a motion was made by Commissioner Knee and seconded by Commissioner
Claussen to adjourn the meeting at 6:20 p.m.
