Village Manager Mike Cassady, Village Clerk Karen Agoranos and Chief Brian Lambel represented staff. Jim Chylik, Locust Ln — Talked about corrugated boxes need to be flat and tied up otherwise they end up in the garbage. Trustee Hoefert discussed changes to recycling program. Recycling needs to be non -contaminated. In the future, bins will be checked and stickered if it is contaminated. Discussion continued about the drivers and the process of picking up garbage and recycling. More discussion on where the recycling ends up and why. Trustee Hoefert sees disconnect between us and the waste management company. Mayor suggested a discussion between Public Works, Republic, and the Board. Maybe at a COW. Hoefert and Cassady mentioned that we are already in discussions. Mr. Chylik talked about air conditioning in a large piece of new Public Works equipment. He stated that it cost $350 and thinks it should be installed. He was given a reason that the money for it was not in the budget. Getting info from employee(s). Jerry Boldt, N School St — Asked about a place that recycles mattresses. There was discussion between many citizens about places that recycle mattresses but no particulars were given. More discussion about recycling and plastics. Also talked about using paper straws instead of plastic straws. Thomas Tezky, N School St — Tom asked why we moved the farmers market. The mayor explained about the parking and construction. Discussion about the toy fire truck that Mr. Tezky donated to the fire department. Talked about his niece knows someone who can handle his landscaping and she visits to make sure he is ok. Mayor mentioned Human Services. Mal Holec, Quince Ln — Asked about the Burning Bush retention basin. Mr. Cassady explained that we are making progress with the park district. Looking to build it into the Park District master plan. There will be a COW in the fall to discuss the issue. The Village probably would pay. We are looking into state infrastructure programs. Discussion about new brake systems on train cars. Jerry Boldt, N School St — Talked about the Prospect Heights fire and Birch Manor. Also talked about an extra turn lane by Century Tile and the mattress store. Mr. Cassady said it was just going to be resurfaced. No lane changes. Talked about the construction on Central and new lighting. Asked about the Mitchell site. Development is moving forward. Mr. Boldt asked about Isabella traffic count study. Mr. Boldt would like a copy of the Isabella study once completed. Bill Millar, W Central Rd — Observed the street lights are on during the day around 5:00/5;30. Noticed it during the car show a few months ago. Asked why the street lights are only on one side on Central between Elmhurst and Rand. Talked about the square cuts on the roads. Discussion about repairs to sewers. Talked about a renter's license. Renter's license moved upstairs to Community Development. Now you pay and it gets mailed. Why is it processed that way? Cassady will look into the process and the new software. Dee and Clyde Randmark, Nutmeg Ct — Liked the landscape outside the Village Hall. Bridge group is upset that there is early voting in November. Wants to know why the bridge group needs to move and the exercise group does not. Discussion about bridge and the group. Carol Tortorello brought up the blood drive at that time also. Should not be affected. David Horowitz, Linneman Rd — Campaigning for J.B. Pritzker. Questioned about diversity training and if the Police Department trains their police officers. Mr. Cassady said that the Police do get diversity training. More discussion about recycling. Dan Turenne, Boxwood Dr — Discussed parking lot near his home and how the water is pitched towards his parking lot which tears up the asphalt. Wants to know if the Village could assist in getting the two homes to pitch the parking lot another direction. Public Works will contact Mr. Turenne. Tony Ciacio, Grace Dr — Happy to report that after he came last time Public Works came out and rodded out the pipes in his back yard. Sounds like it was successful. Discussed the stop signs at the T intersections. Wants to know why stop signs instead of yield signs. Mayor discussed that the Village standardized this throughout the village. Nancy Wagner, Rivertrails School District 26 — Discussed the Boxwood Bash. Thanked those who reached out to the Lendino family. School is starting. Please be careful. Low income families with 3,4,5 children have preschool available in District 26. Talked about permeable pavers at Euclid school. 25% more expensive but last longer. Discussion about the water retention issues on the property. Enrollment up and all space is used up. Looking to reach out to the community in September. September will have an open house to listen to the community. Grossi discussed the overcrowding of the parents dropping off and picking up at the Euclid school. Continued to discuss options. Yulia Bjekic, S Hi Lusi — Wants to know about what is going on with DiMucci. Village is working with him about his requirements. Discussion about Starbucks and IDOT. Asked about the residential in the back. Cassady said that the Village told him to focus on the commercial first. Asked about the Parenti property. Open house on September 17th to introduce the project. Asked about Hobby Lobby. No news. Hearing that the owner wants to sell the property. Asked about Melas and Meadows bridge. Cassady said it is still possible. More discussion about recycling. Antonia Borowski, See Gwun Ave — Thanked the Village for the Celebration of Cultures. Discussion about the police and fire station. Police Department is in design mode. Both will be done in spring of 2020. Video gaming on the August 21 st board meeting. Not going to the ballot. Mayor discussed the decision and why we are moving forward. Terri Gens, S Elm St — Left Tom Manion, S Edward St — Thanked the Village for the recycling program. Discussion about stop signs and stopping. Discussed his son being a firefighter. David Schein, Na Wa Ta Ave — Thanked Carol for butterfly article. Discussed the monarch butterflies. Discussed the gaming. What is the lag time before the games show up after it passes. Discussion about the pushing from the vendors contacting our restaurants. Could take several months. Asked about the pools tables and whether the tables are slate? Talked about Mike the photographer. Discussion about him and what he does with the pictures. No bee keeping? No bee keeping.
