HomeMy WebLinkAbout09/08/2018 CWC MinutesMINUTES VILLAGE OF MOUNT PROSPECT COFFEE WITH COUNCIL SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 8, 2018 Community Center 1St Floor Village Hall The meeting convened at 9:00 a.m. with Mayor Juracek, Trustee Hoefert, Trustee Grossi, Trustee Rogers, and Trustee Saccotelli present. Village Clerk Agoranos, Administrative Analyst Bertolucci and Police Chief Koziol represented staff. Police Chief Koziol talked to him after the meeting. Louis Goodman School Street Mr. Goodman asked about the Honey Bee situation he is hearing about in other communities, and he wondered if it is still prohibited in Mount Prospect. Mayor Juracek advised him no one has inquired so nothing has changed. Mr. Goodman also asked if Mount Prospect would ever get a Cracker Barrel. Cracker Barrels are usually near a tollway exit, which led to a discussion of locations in Mount Prospect. Locations such as the south side, near the 1-90 exit on Elmhurst Road, or open lots near the corner of Algonquin Road and Elmhurst Road. Alex Bertolucci will forward information to Community Development. Jerry Boldt School Street Mr. Boldt stated he is still against building the police and fire stations at the same time. Coffee with Council Minutes Page 1 of 3 9/8/18 Mal Holec, Quince Lane Mr. Holec expressed his dissatisfaction with the landscapers dumping and blowing the grass on the street and other properties. Chief Koziol advised him to call 9-1-1 when it happens. Mr, Holec also expressed his concern about the Mount Prospect Pub Crawl sponsored by the Downtown Merchants, and suggested they ask for help from the police, Mayor Juracek advised the event is carefully monitored, and the bars are trained on how to handle various situations. Mr. Holec asked for clarification on an article in the newspaper. Mayor Juracek advised him there was an Open House regarding the development on September 19 at Mrs. P & Me. Jayne Whitecotton, Bobby Lane Ms. Whitecotton stated she was very happy Mount Prospect is getting a Texas Roadhouse. Ms. Whitecotton is concerned with the access walk that runs from Weller Lane to We Go Park as the landscaping is overgrown between Bobby Lane and Kenilworth Avenue. Mayor Juracek advised staff to contact Public Works to see who is responsible. Bill Millar,_ Central' Road' Mr. Millar reported the streetlights in the area of where the car show was on Northwest Highway are on during the day and wondered if they are on timers or sensors Mayor Juracek asked staff to contact Public Works. Vicki Chung, Wille Street Ms. Chung expressed her excitement on the upcoming Mount Prospect Celebration of Cultures event on September 29 and she is hoping for a big turnout. She also asked if we have a Community Relations Committee, Mayor Juracek will have staff look into it. Frank Whitecotton, Bobby Lane No Comments. Sue Elenber, er Redwood Ms. Elenberger asked why the flashing lights were removed on Northwest Highway and Chief Koziol responded it is not an IDOT approved crosswalk and the lights gave a false sense of security. He also explained the liability the Village has with doing this without IDOT approval. Chief Koziol went on to explain it is only a "T" intersection and so it will never have a pedestrian signal per IDOT. There was also a discussion on the parking for the "French Market" on September 9, 2018. Joe Planta Wille Street Mr. Plata stated at the Block Party for the 200/300 blocks the pavement was noticeably uneven and he asked if they are scheduled for paving. Mayor Juracek asked staff to contact Public Works. Mr, Plata also asked if on the website could there be a subcategory under the "general' drop down box for miscellaneous service requests. Mayor Juracek asked staff to look in to it. Ronak McFadden, ,Albert Street Ronak McFadden reported a resident has started a group called "Made by Mary". They are a group of residents who provide support to others by baking cookies, They bring them to the PADS Shelters, people who are under the weather or just need a pick-me-up. Mayor Juracek suggested staff pass this along to Human Services and noted this could be a suggestion for shining star. ,Antonina Borowski See Gwun ,Avenue Antonina Borowski noticed on the Website under the communications for Trustees that Trustee Hatzis has her personal email listed instead of the Village email. The Village Clerk advised she would make the change. Coffee with Council Minutes Page 2 of 3 9/8/18 Gerald Farley, Emerson Street Mr. Farley asked who owns the sidewalk grinders he saw going past his house, and staff advised they are Village owned and operated. Mr. Farley gave his compliments to the Village. Additionally, he has a sidewalk square that needs replacing due to tilting from side to side and collecting water in the winter, which turns to ice. Mayor Juracek suggested contacting Public Works regarding the schedule for the Cost Share Program. Trustee Hoefert asked if we have reviewed the cost of mud jacking instead of replacing squares, which led to a brief discussion. Max Romanowicz ,Ard ce Lane Max Romanowicz had concerns regarding the lights and new lane configuration at Rand Road, Central Road and Mount Prospect Road. He asked if they could check with the contractor resurfacing Central Road and request when placing cones or barricades could they be aware of driveways. Staff will talk to Public Works. Lisa Griffin, Blayne Court Ms. Griffin asked if the new building in the downtown triangle would have parking and the Mayor responded, yes. Rachel Rothauff, (Busse Avenue Ms. Rothauff inquired if the 20 West building would have retail. Mayor Juracek responded this phase would only have a restaurant. The second phase may have retail and she added there is an Open House at Mrs. P & Me on September 19 between 5 PM and 8 PM. Eileen Kowalczyk, Maple Avenue Ms. Kowalczyk attended to observe. David Schein Na Wa Ta Avenue Mr. Schein inquired if when tearing down a house to rebuild, is there a requirement for posting demolition permits. Staff will contact Building for an answer. Mr. Schein also advised he has the annual supply of milkweed seeds so if anyone is interested, please call him. Trustee Saccotelli reminded everyone there is a Public Meeting scheduled for the Busse Park on September 12 at 7 PM, and an Open House on the Maple Street Lofts on September 19 at 5 PM.
