MAYOR'S REPORT 3.4 PROCLAMATION: Trinity United Methodist Church - 60th Anniversary — 1958-2018 Public Trinitymethodist50thapril20l8.pdf (121 KB) Administrative Content Executive Content https://www.boarddocs.com/il/vomp/Board.nsf/Private?open&login 1/1 PROCLAMATION TRINITY UNITED METHODIST CHURCH "60THANNIVERSARY" 1958-2018 WHEREAS, in 1957 nine (9) residents inspired by faith, encouraged in population growth and motivated by a desire to serve, held the first planning meeting to consider establishing a Methodist Church in the Village of'MountProspect,- and WHEREAS, on May 18, 1958 TRINITY UNITED METHODIST CHURCH was issued a Certificate of Organization with eighty-eight (88) charter members, and Reverend DonaldM. Thomas appointed as Pastor; and WHEREAS, TRINITY UNITED METHODIST CHURH, has for six (6) memorable decades been apart of Mount Prospect's history, and serves as an essential link to the spiritual needs, educational growth and social well-being of its members and community; and WHEREAS, the TRINITY UNITED METHODIST CHURCH congregation has generously supported and financed needed facilityprojects and expansions to accommodate membership growth, facilitate spiritual education programs and provide community based services including, a Pre -School open to all families in Mount Prospect; and WHEREAS, TRINITY UNITED METHODIST CHURCH, faithfully serves the community of'Mount Prospect through its many Community Service and Outreach programs including Backpack Ministry, Pack -4 -Patriots, Rainbow Covenant projects, and WINGS (Women In Need Growing Stronger); and WHEREAS, TRINITY UNITED METHODIST CHURCH, is sensitive to the struggles and basic needs of humanity, bringing the work of God and prayer to all seeking his voice, contributing volunteer hours and funding to Habitat for Humanity, participating in yearly youth mission trips to Red Lake, Minnesota and since 1990, welcoming the homeless as a host site for Public Action to Deliver- Shelter (PADS); and WHERAS, TRINITY UNITED METHODIST CHURCH, advocates diversity through its participation in a clothes closet,. food pantry, English as a Second Language program (ESL) and the outreach efforts of Heifer International; and WHEREAS, in 1996, TRINITY UNITED METHODIST CHURCH, dedicated a Memorial Center to honor and thank God for the deceased church members whose faith and commitment were fundamental to the church ministry; and WHEREAS, TRINITY UNITED METHODIST CHURCH, as an active participant in the MountProspect Interfaith Council recognizes the significant role oftheFaith Community in the Village ofMount Prospect, and whose commitment to a Christian. Community growing in faith and a desire to serve God's children in Mount Prospect and the world beyond, moves forward with a vision, "Trinity — Gathering in Christian Community, Growing in Faith, Going to Serve " NOW, THEREFORE, I, Arlene A. Juracek, Mayor of the Village of Mount Prospect, along with the Mount Prospect Village Board of Trustees, do hereby extend our sincere congratulations to TRINITY UNITED METHODIST CHURCH on this truly momentous occasion and encourage everyone to recognize the many contributions the congregation has made to our community.
