Information
On Thursday, January 4, 2018, the Village Manager, Village Attorney and Executive Assistant met with Mr. DePak Shah,
new owner of the Four Points Hotel Sheraton and Mr. Nick Patel, owner of Tavern on Elmhurst Restaurant, to request the
issuance of a new Class 7-3" liquor license. The Class 7-3" license provides for the full service of alcohol in a restaurant
with a lounge.
Mr. Shah is the chief investor of the former Country Inn and Suites and is converting the 94 -room hotel into a full-service
Four Points Sheraton hotel. Mr. Shah is a long-standing CEO in the hospitality industry whose portfolio consists of several
hotels including the Holiday Inn in Mount Prospect. His company, Nexgen Hotels, has invested over two million into the
Mount Prospect Four Points Sheraton, completely renovating the entire hotel including a build out of a full service kitchen.
Mr. Nick Patel will be leasing space within the hotel for his new restaurant "Tavern on Elmhurst". Mr. Patel is an
established restaurateur who has owned and operated restaurants within a hotel with the most recent located in a
LaQuinta Inn. The total restaurant square footage is 1580 feet with an estimated 24 tables and is entirely designed to
meet the hospitality expectations of guests staying at the hotel. The restaurant will be open seven days a week serving
breakfast in the morning and dinner from 5:00-10:00 p.m.. A mid-February opening is anticipated.
The requirements of the Village's Fight Ordinance along with the need for all employees involved in the sale or service of
alcohol to complete a certified liquor servers training course were discussed. Mr. Patel did attend a Basset classroom
training and indicated he understood his obligations in this regard.
Alternatives
1. Motion to approve the Ordinance.
2. Action at discretion of Village Board.
Staff Recommendation
The required application is complete and on file along with the payment of appropriate fees and other documentation. Mr.
Patel has submitted to a background check with fingerprints in conjunction with the liquor license requirements.
If the Village Board favorably considers this request, adoption of an ordinance creating a new Class "F-3" liquor licenses
would be in order.

be no separate discussion of those items unless a Board member or member from the audience so requests, in which the
item will be removed from the Consent Agenda and considered in its sequence on the agenda.

AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 13 OF THE
VILLAGE CODE OF MOUNT PROSPECT
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE MAYOR AND BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE VILLAGE OF MOUNT
PROSPECT, COOK COUNTY, ILLINOIS ACTING IN THE EXERCISE OF THEIR HOME RULE POWERS:
SECTION ONE: That in accordance with Subsection A of Section 13.108 of Chapter 13 of the Village Code
of Mount Prospect, as amended, the Corporate Authorities shall determine the number of Liquor Licenses
available in each Classification and shall establish a list specifying the number of Liquor Licenses
authorized. Said list is hereby amended increasing the number of Class "F-3" Liquor Licenses by One
(1) TAVERN ON ELMHURST INC. D/B/A TAVERN ON ELMHURST located at 2200 S. ELMHURST
ROAD Said list is as follows:
