HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrd 6337 09/05/2017 Amending Chapter 5 (Boards and Commissions) Article XV (Sister Cities Commission), Section 5 (Annual Report)ORDINANCE NO. 6337 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 5 (BOARDS AND COMMISSIONS), ARTICLE XV (SISTER CITIES COMMISSION), SECTION 05 (ANNUAL REPORT) OF THE MOUNT PROSPECT VILLAGE CODE WHEREAS, the Village of Mount Prospect (the "Village") is a home rule municipality, having all of the powers and authority granted to such municipalities pursuant to Article VII, Section 6 of the Illinois Constitution of 1970, including the right to exercise any power and perform any function pertaining to its government and affairs; and WHEREAS, Chapter 5 (Boards and Commissions), Article XV (Sister Cities Commission), Section 05 (Annual Report) of the Mount Prospect Village Code currently requires the commission to make an annual report to the mayor and board of trustees each September; and WHEREAS, the Village seeks to change the annual report date from September to November in order to allow the annual report presentation to coincide with National French Week; and WHEREAS, the President and Board of Trustees of the Village of Mount Prospect find that the below Village Code amendment is in the best interests of the Village, its residents and the public. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE PRESIDENT AND BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE VILLAGE OF MOUNT PROSPECT, COOK COUNTY, ILLINOIS, AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1: Each Whereas paragraph set forth above is incorporated by reference into this Section 1. SECTION 2: Chapter 5 (Boards and Commissions), Article XV (Sister Cities Commissions), Section 05 (Annual Report), of the Mount Prospect Village Code is amended to read in its entirety as follows: 5.1505: ANNUAL REPORT:. Each November, the commission shall make an annual report to the mayor and board of trustees with respect to the following: A. Exchanges and projects in the village within the past twelve (12) months, B. Planned exchanges and projects for the future. 3837911 C. Recommendation of measures with respect to the sister cities program that should be considered by the corporate authorities in the following twelve (12) months. D. Quality of cooperation between Mount Prospect and its sister city(ies), E. Budget recommendations for the program's future. SECTION 3: To the extent necessary, all tables of contents, indexes, headings and internal references or cross-references to sections that need to be amended or deleted within the Mount Prospect Code of Ordinances, as amended, as a consequence of the above Code amendment, shall be amended by the Village's codifier so as to be consistent with the terms of this Ordinance. SECTION 4: All ordinances, or parts of ordinances, in conflict with the provisions of this Ordinance, to the extent of such conflict, are repealed. SECTION 5: Each section, paragraph, clause and provision of this Ordinance is separable, and if any provision is held unconstitutional or invalid for any reason, such decision shall not affect the remainder of this Ordinance, nor any part thereof, other than that part affected by such decision. SECTION 6: Except as to the Code amendment set forth above in this Ordinance, all Chapters and Sections of the Mount Prospect Village Code, as amended, shall remain in full force and effect. SECTION 7: This Ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its adoption, approval and publication in pamphlet form as provided by law, ADOPTED this 5th day of September, 2017, pursuant to a roll call vote as follows: AYES: Grossi.
