Carol Tortorello, Elmhurst Avenue—Ms. Tortorello did not have anything for the group and was only in attendance to observe. Louis Goodman, N. School Street— Jerry Boldt, N. School Street — Mr. Boldt questioned the Isabella project and why the new sidewalks reconstructed did not match the elevation of older sidewalks. He also mentioned that the Gregory sidewalk near the school is buckling. Jan Kent, Briarwood—Ms. Markovits did not have anything for the group and was only in attendance to observe. Teri Markovits, Briarwood — Ms. Markovits questioned rental and occupancy of apartments in Lake Briarwood. She has seen rental of rooms advertised on Craigs List and states rental properties are turning over every month. Bill Millar,W. Central Road—Mr. Millar commented on Craig Iverson, S. Wille Street—Mr. Iverson submitted a letter questioning if the Village's calendar on the web site can be linked to various event sites. He also inquired if powered bikes need to be licensed. Ken Koeppen, S. Linneman — Mr. Koeppen asked about the Com Ed trimming of trees on Linneman road south of Golf. He stated the trees look horrible. village's water quality in light of the recent reports about lead in various city water systems. Mr. Koeppen was referred to the village website and the annual water quality report prepared by the Public Works Department. Sharon Malen, S. Carol Lane — Ms. Malen commented on the traffic island located along 1900 Lonnquist Boulevard across the Early Learning Center. She stated that there were insufficient markers surrounding the traffic island. Ms. Malen felt more identifying markers are needed to prevent vehicles from running up on the island. Staff noted the issue and will be reaching out to Public Works for follow- up. Korrin Anderson, S. Busse —Ms. Anderson is in the process of building a home near the intersection of Golf and Busse. She is concerned with a multi-unit development being considered that could impact property values in that area. Ms. Anderson shared conversations she had with the developer and that she was told the development was a "done deal." Staff explained the planning and zoning procedure for approving a development and Mayor Juracek assured Ms. Anderson that no approvals have been given. Staff will follow up on this item and get back to Ms. Anderson with more information. Tom Manion, S. Edward Street - Mr. Manion commented on the issue brought forth by Ms. Anderson, relating a similar situation near his home. Comments from concerned neighbors were heard before the Planning and Zoning Commission and as a result, the developer modified the plan. Mr. Manion encouraged Ms. Anderson to participate in the Planning and Zoning process. Mr. Manion also H:AVILM\COFFEE WITH COUNCIL\2017\CWC-3-11-17.docx commented on the condition of the parking lot for the former Dominick's grocery on the corner of Golf and Elmhurst. He shared that the lot was in disrepair and striping was non-existent. Navigating the parking lot had become difficult, especially for those searching for handicap parking. Mr. Cassady informed the Mr. Manion that this item would be discussed at the next meeting between the village and the owner of the property. Clyde & Dee Randmark, Persimmon — Mr. Randmark, speaking on behalf of the bridge club that meets at village hall, would like to see a dedicated "senior center" in the village. He shared how the seniors had a center prior to the building of the new village hall and asks why a new center couldn't be built. While Mr. Randmark acknowledges that the community center at village hall is available for senior programming, she would like some dedicated space. Board and staff provided background on uses for the community center use and options for making more welcoming for seniors. Dave Schein, Na Wa Ta Avenue—Mr. Schein shared some general comments on how the "Dark Sky" ordinance might possibly impact the addition of new roadway lighting. Mr. Schein provided some background on a joint youth/senior center project that was brought forward for discussion. He also commented on the amount of parkway damage from snow plows. Parkway damage was common during winter snow removal and repairs of the damage are done during early spring. Public Works staff will be asked to follow up on this item. Tom Tezky, N. School Street —Mr. Tezky shared with the group his penning a book and would share the details at a future meeting. General discussion continued until the meeting was adjourned. Two items of note were information on a village plan for street lighting and street light outage at the corner of Lavergne and Locust. Attendees inquired as to how it is determined that street lighting is added to particular stretches of road. Public works maintains a listing of resident requests for the addition of streets lighting. Trustee Saccotelli requested a copy of the list. Public Works will be asked to notify ComEd of the light outage. Mayor Juracek asked if there was any further business for the good of the Village.
