Northwest Highway Mount Prospect, Illinois 60056 Phone BOARD OF FIRE AND POLICE COMMISSIONERS e47/e70-5656 MINUTES February 6, 2017 Public Safety Building Fire Department Conference Room Chairperson Skowron called the meeting to order at 5:45 p.m. Roll Call: Michaele Skowron, Chairperson Charles Bennett, Commissioner Mark Busse, Commissioner James Powers, Commissioner Absent: Jackie Hinaber, Commissioner Also Present: Brian Lambel, Fire Chief Timothy Janowick, Chief of Police APPROVAL OF MINUTES Chairperson Skowron asked for a motion to approve the Open Session Minutes of January 9, 2017. A motion was made by Commissioner Busse and seconded by Commissioner Bennett. Roll Call: Ayes: Bennett, Busse, Powers, Skowron Nays: None Abstain: None Motion Carried Chairperson Skowron asked for a motion to dispose of Open Meeting Audiotapes/CDs pursuant to the Illinois Records Commission for the period of December 2015 through November 2016. A motion was made by Commissioner Busse and seconded by Commissioner Powers. Roll Call: Ayes: Bennett, Busse, Powers, Skowron Nays: None Abstain: None Motion Carried CITIZENS TO BE HEARD No one in attendance. POLICE DEPARTMENT UPDATE Chief Janowick provided a brief report on staffing. Chief Janowick advised he is working on a report for the Village Board regarding current trends and issues in law enforcement. There was a brief discussion regarding the recent Centennial events. FIRE DEPARTMENT UPDATE Fire Chief Lambel reported on staffing. Fire Chief Lambe] reported the union agreed to the promotional language and he distributed a copy to each commissioner. CLOSED SESSION Chairperson Skowron asked for a motion to go into closed session under Personnel 5 ILCS 120/2 (c) (1) - The appointment, employment, compensation, discipline, performance, or dismissal of specific employees of the public body, including hearing testimony on a complaint lodged against an employee to determine its validity, to approve the Closed Session minutes of January 9, 2017. A motion was made by Commissioner Bennett and seconded by Commissioner Busse to go into Closed Session at 5:55 p.m. Roll Call: Ayes: Bennett, Busse, Powers, Skowron Nays: None Abstain: None Motion Carried BOFPC Minutes 2/6/2017 Page 1 The Board returned to open session at 6:01 p.m. with everyone present from the previous meeting OTHER BUSINESS Chairperson Skowron asked about the Fire Department Interviews. Commissioner Powers responded the interviews went well and there was a brief discussion. The next meeting will be on March 6'h at 5:45 p.m. There was a discussion regarding agenda topics for the April.
