Those present were: Trustees George Clowes, Richard Hendricks, Paul Hoefert and Irvana Wilks. Also present were: Village Manager Michael Janonis and Fire Chief Edward Cavello. Village residents present were: Michael Collins, 1103 Ash Drive, Kevin Hess of 1407 Cypress, John and Cindy Pouplikollas of 1505 Barberry, and David Schein of 512 Na- Wa-Ta. Mr. Michael Collins presented his position to the members of the Village Board who were present. His discussion concerned the apartment complex problems on the south side of Mount Prospect. His concerns included what the population shift had done to the long term future of the area. Mr. Collins stated that he thought the Village has made a sincere effort to make corrections but that resolution would take even greater measures. The issue of high quality education being affected by the high percentage of non-English speaking students was discussed. Mr. Collins mentioned a meeting on November 7th at which time various committees, made up of area homeowners, would concentrate on issues specifically related to the Village, Park District, and the School District. Discussion also included the possibility of the expansion of Robert Frost School, Birchwood Apartments conversion to condominiums, and whether or not density was a major cause of the problems. Mr. Kevin Hess explained his reasons for becoming involved in the south side issue. He offered the solution of the Village buying apartment buildings and converting them to senior citizen buildings. He also agreed to research this idea and return to next month's meeting with his findings. John and Cindy Pauplikollas attended the meeting to request an extension of the original ninety day period of time they were given to remove a commercial truck from their residential property. After discussion on the matter, an additional six week time period was granted. Mr. David Schein asked if there was an ordinance concerning the sale of lighters and spray paint to minors. He expressed his concern due to the fact that his son was able to purchase a lighter from a local business. The meeting was adjourned at 11:15 AM. Respectfully submitted, Edward M.
