COFFEE WITH COUNCIL
May 14, 1994
The meeting was called to order by Mayor Gerald L. Farley at 10:00 a.m. Trustees
present were Timothy Corcoran, Richard Hendricks, Paul Hoefert, Michaele
Skowron and Irvana Wilks. Also present was Chief of Police Ronald Pavlock.
Village residents present were: Diane Millar, Al Boldt, Frank Peters, Don Seiler,
Frank Benz and Ed Plocharski.
Diane Miller, 1619 W. Central Road, expressed her concern about maintenance of
property (specifically mowing of grass) next to her home. Information on the
concern was passed onto Public Works on May 14, 1994. They will call the
resident at 439-7109.
Trustee Skowron expressed a concern about cars parked after 6:00 p.m. on Weller,
south of Central, next to the school baseball diamond. She is concerned because
the width of the street along with the cars parked at this location could cause a
dangerous situation for turning cars and children in the area. The Police
Department will look at the situation and talk to the parents utilizing the field to use
alternative parking and walk to the field.
Trustee Wilks expressed a concern about a growing number of cars that are
backing up during rush hour on westbound Central, waiting for motorists to make
left turns onto southbound WaPella. Her concern rests with the fact that more
often than not the vehicles are backed up across the Northwestern Railroad tracks.
Traffic Engineering will be asked to look at this problem and advise of any probable
solutions short of eliminating left turns and forcing traffic down to Cathy Lane.
Al Boldt, 617 S. School stopped by to express concerns about maintenance of a
right-of-way that runs parallel to the south side of his property. He also was
interested in buying or assuming ownership of the property. This was passed onto
Planning for a response back to Mr. Boldt at 870-7559.
Frank Benz, Frank Peters, Ed Plocharski and Ron Seiler, all of the 400 block of
Douglas in Mount Prospect, requested additional information on the future
repair/reconstruction of the Mount Prospect side of their street. They had heard
from Jeff Wulbecker, but were unclear as to their options. They were
complimentary of the follow-up so far, and understood the overall street
construction schedule. They will call Jeff on Monday to set up an information
meeting. This will be passed on to Engineering Coordinator Jeff Wulbecker for
further follow-up. Mayor Farley will also express the residents' concerns to the
Arlington Heights Mayor when they meet the first part of June to discuss other mutual
concerns.
Trustee Wilks expressed a concern as to the conflict of the Public Works Open House
with the regularly scheduled Coffee with Council. Mayor Farley will review with staff
for next year.
The meeting was adjourned at 11:05 a.m. to allow everyone to attend the Public
Works Open House.
