Saturday, March 12, 1994
The Coffee with Council meeting was called to order at 10:00
a.m. with Mayor Farley, Trustees Corcoran, Hendricks, Hoefert,
and Wilks attending, as well as Assistant to the Village Manager
David Strahl and Public Works Director Herb Weeks.
A resident from 2015 Cayuga Lane, Mr. Lewis Dumas, phone
803-5254, had several issues that he wished to discuss with the
Board. His first concern was that the paramedic service area
needs to be expanded to include Glenbrook Hospital. Mr. Dumas'
contention is that, recently, a great aunt of his needed trans-
portation to Glenbrook Hospital and the paramedic service of
Mount Prospect refused to go to that hospital stating that their
service included Holy Family and Northwest Community Hospitals.
Mr. Dumas' argument was that at that time, Village of Mount
Prospect paramedics waited for one hour for a private ambulance
to arrive so that his great aunt could be transported to the
hospital of her choice. Mr. Dumas claimed that the distance to
Glenbrook Hospital is actually 2/10 of a mile shorter than to
Holy Family Hospital. Mr. Dumas also stated that at a later
date, he again called the paramedics and, upon his insistence,
he personally was transported to Glenbrook Hospital by Mount
Prospect paramedics. Mayor Farley explained Village policy, and
discussion around the table followed on that subject. Mayor
Farley suggested that, at some future COW meeting, the issue of
expanding paramedic service for transporting to other hospitals
(besides Northwest Community and Holy Family) be addressed.
Mr. Dumas also commented that snow plow drivers hit his mail box
this past winter and that the root structure of a parkway tree
is causing sprouts to surface in his lawn. He also claims that
the Village removed a root from under the sidewalk and filled in
the depression with dirt and seed. The filled in area has again
depressed and he feels the Village should pay 100% of the cost
to replace a sidewalk square that was pushed out of alignment by
the parkway tree roots.
There being no other business, Coffee with Council was adjourned
at 11:45 a.m.
