School St. MayorJuracek welcomed everyone and introduced State Representative David Harris. Representative th General Assembly Inauguralthis past week. This year the Harris was sworn in at the start of the 100 assembly of the State of Illinois would like to balance the budget, and he discussed some concerns and the impact it could have on the Village. Mayor Juracek stated, “We are very well represented in Springfield.” John & Sue Elenberger, S. Redwood Drive Mr. Elenberger said after reading the article in the Journalregarding the Holiday Decorating Contest, he wonderedwhatthe process was for selecting the homes. Mayor Juracek said the Special Events Commission drives around and nominateshomes for recognition. Mr. Elenberger also asked what happened to the ghost bike on Central. Mr. Cassady responded thememorial remained there longer for the family, but the bike was posing a danger. The bikewas removed and is stored at Public Works indefinitely. Trustee Hoefert stated the Village is very respectful of memorials. Tom Schreiner, W. Sunset Road . Mr. Schreiner inquired about regulating solicitors who ring doorbellsafter 7:00 PM at night, ashe is concerned with safety. There was a discussion of putting articles in the newsletter and supplying the “No Solicitor” signs. Chief Janowick added if anyone feels threatened, they should call 9-l-l. Additionally, Mr. Schreiner asked for an update on the redevelopmentofCentral and Route 83, as well as other commercial areas in the Village. Mayor Juracek and staff advised the Village is looking for viable options to develop Central and Route 83. There was a discussion on the new TIF project to expand the downtown businesses along Northwest Highway, development of the south side of town, and annexations. Louis Goodman, N. School Street Mr. Goodman said he was glad to see Representative Harris and asked about the pay for the state representatives. Representative Harris advised him there has been no pay for seven months and this led to a discussion,which included the budget, and constitutional questions/issues. Iftheywillnotlowerthespeedlimit,hewouldlike toseetrafficcontrolsatCathyLane.MayorJuraceksaidtheydidreceivealetterfromIDOTandVillage ManagerCassadywillbesettingupameetingwithIDOT.RepresentativeHarriscreditedtheVillage Manager,Mayor,andPoliceChieffortheirworkwithIDOT. KenKoeppen,Linneman Mr. Koeppen asked the Board if there could be more articles on smoke detectors and CO detectors,which save lives. He also discussed “No Mo Robo,”a service provided to Comcast subscribers, which blocks unwanteddigitalcallsto your home. Carol Tortorello, S. Elmhurst Avenue Ms. Tortorello inquired if homes in foreclosure in theVillage just sit vacant or ifthe Village keepstrack of them. Village Manager Cassady will check into it and the Mayor added if there is a concern, call the Village, as there is a Vacant Building Registry. Walter&PatSzymczak,N.EastwoodAvenue PatSzymczakwantedtheBoardtoknowaboutanewslettershesawregardingaMountProspectfamilyand ProspectHighSchoolstudentscampaigningtocollectalargeamountofmoneyasadonationtothehospital wheresheworks.ShefeelsthissaysalotfortheVillageandCommunity. TerryMarkovitz,BriarwoodDrive Ms.Markovitzhadnothingtodiscuss. JanKent,BriarwoodDrive Ms.Kent’sconcernisaboutthedumpstersbehindtheshoppingcenteratBriarwoodandAlgonquin,asthey areleftopen. Ms.KentispleasedwiththeprogressonLynnCourtsincetheannexation,asthedumpsters arebetter,buttherearestillsomeissues. StaffwillnotifyBillShroederoftheneedtoenforce. Ms.Kent complimentedCommunityDevelopmentontheimmediatecallbackwhenherhusbandcalls. KenWagner,N.Maple Mr.Wagnerjustattendedtolisten. Mal Holec, Quince Lane Mr. Holec asked if there was any further news regarding the tank cars on the Canadian National, as he has concerns for safety. Trustee Polit said the new deadline is December 2018. ThomasTezky,SchoolStreet Mr.TezkydiscussedanincidentatMeijersGroceryStoreforwhichtheFireChiefreferredhimtotheRolling MeadowsPoliceDepartment.Mr.Tezkyalsobroughtsomehelpfulideastothegroupanddemonstrateda plasticbowlformicrowaveuse.MayorJuracekthankedhimforthehelpfulhints. LindaHindmand,S.OwenStreet Ms.HindmandexpressedconcernsregardingthesignagewhenleavingWalmart.MayorJuraceksaidBill Schroederwillbedirectedtolookatit,asleavingWalmartisincludedintheRandRoadCorridorStudy. TherewasalsoadiscussiononcellphoneuseandChiefJanowickstatedwearecommittedtoeducationof themotoringpublic. JoeSexton,N.MapleStreet Mr.Sextonhadnothingtodiscuss. BillMillar,W.CentralRoad Mr.MillaraskediftheVillagewouldbesponsoringashreddingevent.VillageManagerCassadysaidhewill checkintoitandMayorJuracekaddedthatMountProspectBankdoeshaveashreddingeventonceayear. YuliaBekic,S.HiLusi Ms.BekicaskediftherewereanyupdatesontheHobbyLobbyspace.Staffisworkingtofilltheempty store,andtheyareconcernedwithKohl’s,asthisistheotheranchorforthisplaza. Ms.Bekicaskedthe questionofwhathappenssincetherearethreeBoardseatsforelectionandonlytwocandidates.Thisledto awide-rangingdiscussionregardingthemanyhoursaBoardmemberputsinandtheirresponsibilities.This ledtoadiscussionofcommissionsandTrusteeSaccotelliwouldliketoseerecruitingfornewmembers includedinthestateofthecommissionaddresspresentedtotheVillageBoardbyeachcommission. Wille Street Mr. Iverson asked if the Village could post the information regarding shredding dates on the community sign. John & Liz Zulaski, N. Owen Street Their concern is lighting at the Fresh Thyme parking lotand along the Rand Road corridor by the store which isvery poor. Village Manager Cassady responded there have been discussions on this issue and it is on everyone’s radar. Ms. Zulaski said IDOT will not take an individual complaint and they told her Mount Prospect has to appeal regardingRand Road street lighting. Bill Grossi, E. Burr Oak Drive Mr. Grossi was just observing, as he is a candidate for the Village Board. Ken Greenfield, S. See Gwun Mr. Greenfield was just visiting. DavidSchein,S.NaWaTaAvenue Mr.Scheinsaidhewouldliketoseeamicrophonepassedaroundforthosewhoarehardofhearing. Heis concernedwiththelargebluesignsplaceattheentranceandexitoftheVillageparkinggaragedriveway,as theyblocksouthboundtrafficonEmersonStreet. Mr.ScheinaskedaboutBar145andtheVillageManager advisedofgeneralinformationknownabouttheclosing.Additionally,Mr.Scheinsuggestedabetatestfor thenewwebsitedesignedbyIT.Mr.ScheincomplimentedtheFireDepartmentonthequickworkwhen calledforalinedownintheneighbor’sbackyard.
