Janonis VILLAGE CLERK Carol A. Representing staff was Community Development Director, Bill Cooney. Residents in Attendance: Paul Hydzik 202 E.Council Alsono Sedano 832 N. River Road Paul Hydzik, 202 E. Council, stated that the main reason for his visit was to discuss the recent flooding that occurred in his neighborhood. He stated that he and his neighbors had met on Friday to discuss this matter with Trustee Clowes and members of the Public Works Department. They were informed at this meeting that the Village had budgeted for flood control improvements in his neighborhood for 1998. He was requesting that these improvements be moved forward to this year to reduce the potential for additional flooding in his neighborhood. There was much discussions about the various causes for flooding in residential neighborhoods. Mr. Hydzik indicated that they had a similar discussion yesterday and that he felt his neighbors were doing a good job of mitigating potential flooding causes in his neighborhood. He stated that he felt that the recent construction of Lions Park School may have something to do with the flooding and that the school informed him they were finalizing grading on the site. Trustee Hoefert indicated that he would have staff investigate the possibility of moving the project into the 1997 budget cycle but that he felt it was unlikely given the budget was already approved. He stated the Village Board budgeted for a multi- year flood control improvement program in an effort to alleviate problems experienced throughout the Village. Unfortunately, this requires a multi-year program and a phased budgeting approach. Trustee Hoefert asked Staff to review the possibility of moving this project forward and responding to Mr. Hydzik's concern. Coffee with Council Minutes Page 2 March 10, 1997 Mr. & Mrs. Alsono Sedano, 832 N. River Road, requested that the Trustees reconsider the recent ruling denying Sedano Landscaping to exist at 832 N. River Road. Mr. Sedano stated that it would create a financial hardship if he were required to have a second mortgage for a business location. He. indicated that he had a petition from surrounding neighbors indicating that they supported his operation at this location. Trustee Wilks stated that the Village Board already had reviewed this request and had denied his petition. She stated that it was inappropriate for a landscaping business to be located on a residential property and that she could not support allowing this. There was much discussion regarding the appropriateness of the landscaping company at this location, and a general concurrence that the Village Board would not consider amending their decision. The meeting was adjourned at 11:00 a.m. Respectfully submitted, William J. doney, Jr. Director of Community Development x:wSERSCO&Weveel.NCCFF egym+
