HomeMy WebLinkAbout10/14/1995 CWC minutesMinutes C©FF1=E WITH COUNCIL October 14, 1998 The meeting was called to order by Trustee Michaele Skawran at 9:00 a.m, Other Trustees present were George Clowes and Timothy Corcoran. Also present were Assistant Village Manager Dave Strahl and Police Chief Donald Pavlock. Village residents present were John Metzenthin, Chris Brons and Dave Zamiahn. John Metzenthin, 1418 Birch Drive, discussed the Rosemont gambling revenue shares issue. Various newspaper articles and research papers about the problems with gambling and especially programs supported by state legislation were also discussed. Staff research on this subject has been forwarded to the Village Beard. Chris Brons, a 1 1 N. Main, expressed neighborhood concerns, [have Zamjahn, 419 N. Maple, congratulated all of the Village Board rnembers on the plan approved for Route 83, Mr. Zarnjahn recommended not allowing left turns into residential driveways on Route 83. He also brought up his concern with unsolicited advertising material dropped on boardwalks and driveways, i.e., Chicagoland Express, Mr, Zamjahn questioned TCI's holding the converter box deposit and not refunding it without a direct request from the resident. This matter was referred to Communications. Trustee Corcoran asked the Police Department to check out a construction trailer on his street that has been parked overnight. The trailer dues not have any reflectors. This matter was referred to the Police Department, The Trustees also advised that the discussion on adding traffic officers will come up during the budget sessions, The realities and perceptions about vehicle speed and traffic congestion were discussed. The Police Department will be ready to discuss this and other issues at the budget hearings. Video radar and red flags on speed signs after the speed limit is lowered were also among the items discussed. The Trustees also discussed concerns with trucks, recreational vehicles and other vehicles parking across boulevards and sidewalks, thereby restricting the line of sight of neighbors attempting to back out of their driveways onto busy roadways, Trustee Skowron indicated this should be noted in the minutes as this issue was not brought: up during the previous discussion by the Village Board about recreational and commerical vehicles parked in residential areas.
