Corcoran, Paul Wm. Hoefert, Michaele W. Skowron and Irvana K. Wilks. Also present were Margaret McNichols, 2008 Mark Lane, Mount Prospect, IL, Richard Hendrickson, Ankeny, Iowa (a guest of Mayor Farley), Village Manager Michael E. Janonis, Finance Director David C. Jepson, and Lisa Angell, Solid Waste Coordinator. Albert Boldt, 617 South School Street, Mount Prospect, arrived at 10:00 a.m. Margaret McNichols expressed her concern regarding unauthorized use of fireworks within the Village. She stated that this type of activity seems to be increasing with regular occurrences taking place between the months of March through September. Ms. McNichols stated that these fireworks explosions affect animals and infringe on the rights of all residents. She requested that the Village take a strong stand by arresting and imposing a heavy fine on violators. She also requested that Mount Prospect officials encourage other municipalities to join this effort. The Council discussed the issue with Ms. McNichols and explained that the Police Department tries to establish priorities and concentrate their efforts in areas of greatest need. Recently, efforts have been focused in the areas of gang suppression, housing problems, criminal activity, D.U.I. enforcement and traffic safety. However, it was agreed that whenever there is a specific problem with fireworks in the future the Police Department will respond. It was also agreed that a future newsletter article should highlight that unauthorized use of fireworks is illegal and infringes on the rights of other residents. Albert Boldt stated he was concerned that he has seen a number of younger bicycle riders riding in the streets rather than on sidewalks. The Council discussed the issue of bicycle safety and suggested that a reminder be placed in the Village Newsletter. Trustee Corcoran mentioned that the Solid Waste Agency of Northern Cook County (SWANCC) has been working on a long-term financial plan and there will be a briefing on July 12, 1995 from 1:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. at Allgauer's Restaurant. He encouraged each Trustee that is available to attend this meeting. The Coffee With Council Meeting adjourned at 10:25 a.m. Respectfully submitted, David C. Jepson, Finance Director
