COFFEE WITH COUNCIL
May 13, 1995
The meeting was called to order by Mayor Gerald L. Farley at 9:15 a.m. Trustees
present were George Clowes, Richard Hendricks, Paul Hoefert, Michaele Skowron
and Irvana Wilks. Also present were Village Manager Michael Janonis and Police Chief
Ronald Pavlock. Village resident present was Nancy Bobikewicz.
Nancy Bobikewicz, 1114 Meadow Lane, 577-8746, as a representative of the
homeowners in her subdivision, brought forth three concerns. Two of her concerns
were with the residents at 208 W. Rand Road, owned by Anthony Anast. She stated
she feared for her children's safety because of dogs from 208 W. Rand Road running
loose. She indicated she had talked to the Village Attorney who recommended that
the Board review the Village Animal Ordinance. Ms. Bobikewicz reported that the
neighbors felt that nothing was being done about the animals running loose. NOTE:
The most recent call to 208 W. Rand Road was for a stray dog on May 4, 1995. The
animal was impounded and the case is in adjudication. The call prior to May 4, 1995
was on March 14, 1995 for a stray dog. A ticket was issued and the party appeared
in court. Although complaints on this address go back to 1990, there has always been
a response by the Police Department and citations have been issued. All but the most
recent case (5-4-95) have been adjudicated with fines, restitution by the owner at 208
W. Rand Road and/or court supervision.
Ms. Bobikewicz also expressed a concern about vehicles parked on the property at 208
W. Rand Road in violation of Village Code. NOTE: On May 5, 1995 the Police
Department responded to her complaint and completed a report on the alleged Code
violation. The matter will be referred to Community Development for action. The
most recent call prior to May 5, 1995 was on September 16, 1994 and was
unfounded.
Ms. Bobikewicz indicated there was a problem with the ditch in front of her house and
other areas in the subdivision where the culverts need a cleaning. She did
acknowledge that Public Works has responded and that she has been told work in this
area has been scheduled for 1998. This matter will be referred to Public Works for
future communication with Ms. Bobikewicz on progress on this issue.
The Village Manager reported on a problem with mail delivery due to construction and
the refusal of the mail carrier to deliver in the area of Kiowa Lane and Cholo Lane.
Trustee Wilks brought up the fact that Mount Prospect is a treasure .hunt location as
publicized in a recent nationwide publication that discusses key treasure areas. "There
may be gold in Mount Prospect."
The meeting was adjourned at 10:50 a.m.
