Fax 847/608-6019 e www.ippfa.org PRESIDENT JAMES M. McNAMEE BARRINGTON POLICE VICE PRESIDENT The IPPFA (Illinois Public Pension Fund Association) was founded in 1985 as a DAVID W. NAGEL not-for-profit umbrella association representing police and fire defined benefit MA=SON POLICE retirement funds in the State of Illinois. Founded by a small group of elected fund 2ND VICE PRESIDENT trustees who were bewildered by their new responsibilities, but who were intrigued MARK B.POULOS by the possibilities they saw around them, the original goals of the Association were ROCK ISLAND POLICE educating pension fund trustees, providing legal advice and representation for SECRETARY pension funds and proposing and supporting legislation beneficial to Illinois Pension MARY ANNE DOHERTY Funds. Today those goals remain unchanged. In 2001, the IPPFA Board of HICKORY HILLS POLICE Directors introduced proprietary 457, VEMA, and VEBA plans to further insure the TREASURER retirement security of public safety personnel. DAVID J. WALL ADDISON POLICE There are currently over five hundred police and fire pension funds in Illinois. DIRECTORS The Board of Trustees of each fund makes the investment decisions, manages the WILLIAM B. GALGAN fund, and authorizes disability and retirement pensions in accordance with Illinois CALUMET CITY FIRE Statutes. In the aggregate, these funds manage over ten billion dollars. JOEL TRUEMPER N'--RVILLE POLICE The IPPFA services member needs by holding educational seminars and an D. _dLHOPKINS Annual Training Conference, by producing trustee and investment handbooks, by COLLINSVILLE POLICE making referrals for professional services as required (e.g. physicians, attorneys, DOUGLAS VROMAN accountants, actuaries, money managers, financial advisors), by sponsoring ROCK ISLAND FIRE legislation, by sponsoring investment opportunities (e.9• the IPPFA Group Trust and KEVIN BARRINGTON IPPFA REIT Fund), and by sponsoring prepaid medical retirement plans and an SPRINGFIELD POLICE optional defined contribution plan (the IPPFA VEMA and VEBA plans, and the JAMESGAY IPPFA 457 plan). The Association publishes a quarterly newsletter, maintains an PLEASANTVIEW FIRE active website (www.ippfa.ory), and in conjunction with Northern Illinois University MIKE TIERNEY has offered the Certified Pension Trustee Program since 1999.
