MEETING SUMMARY
MARCH 18, 1999

ABSENT
Lois Brothers, Rod Mobus, Pankaj Parikh, Mary Rosen, Judd Strickland and
Mary Winkler.
Due to the lack of a quorum no formal discussion was conducted. However, the following is a
brief summary of the informal discussion between the Commission members in attendance and
Public Works staff.
The Solid Waste Coordinator stated the Public Works Department would be at the April 14,
Committee of the Whole meeting to present an overview of solid waste services and seek
procedural direction from the Mayor and Board for developing a new solid waste contract. She
asked if Chairman Ken Westlake would be available to present the Commission's
recommendations at the meeting. Chairman Westlake stated he would be in attendance.
The Coordinator stated the Public Works Open House would be held May 15 from 9:00 a.m. to
1:00 p.m. She suggested that a mini resident satisfaction survey be conducted at the Open
House. Chairman Westlake and Vice Chair Luteri agreed a survey would be beneficial. A
brief discussion was then held on what questions would be appropriate for the survey.
The Coordinator stated that if a survey were conducted it would be helpful to recruit as many
Commissioners as possible to work at the Open House. The Coordinator will send a note to all
the Commissioners requesting their participation at the May 15 event.
The next Solid Waste Commission meeting is scheduled for Thursday, May 20, 1999 at 7:30
p.m. in the Public Works Facility, 1700 West Central Road.
