Cassady DEPUTY VILLAGE CLERK Karen Argoranos Phone: 847/392-6000 Fax: 847/392-6022 www.mounWrosl2cct.org The meeting convened at 9:00 a.m. Village Board members present were Mayor Arlene Juracek, and trustees Paul Hoefert and Steve Polit. Representing Staff was Village Manager Michael Cassady and Community Development Director Bill Cooney. John Ellenberger — Mr. Ellenberger complimented Jan Abernethy for the assistance that she provided him with Medicare applications. He recommended that anyone that qualifies for Medicare should utilize the Human Services Department to work through the necessary paperwork. Jim Chylik — No comments. Thomas Tezky — Stated that he appreciated these meetings and the comradery of the group. He stated that he lives on his own and that he enjoys coming to these meetings. Pam Mueller asked if the Village had volunteer opportunities for residents that would be willing to do home visits to individuals that lived on their own? The group discussed this issue at length and suggested that the Village consider creating a list of individuals that were willing to volunteer. Louis Goodman — No comments. Jerry Boldt, School Street — No comments. Pat and Walter Szymczak — No comments. Carol Tortorello — No comments. Bill Millar— Mr. Millar inquired why the fence along Weller Lane, immediately south of Central Road and parallel to Weller Creek, stopped at Cleven Avenue. There was discussion regarding this matter and it was generally agreed that it was put in to keep kids attending Westbrook School away from the creek. Jan Kent — Ms. Kent indicated that the public sidewalk adjacent to the Briarwood shopping center was in disrepair. Mr. Cassady stated that Public Works would review and address as needed. Barbie and Steve Van Arsdale — No comments. Pam Mueller - Ms. Mueller asked if there was any update on the redevelopment of Golf Plaza 2. Mr. Cooney indicated that they are under permit for the KD Market and for parking lot improvements but that the DiMucci Company has not submitted for the redevelopment of the entire center. Craig Iverson, Wille Street— No comments Max Romanowicz, Ardyce Lane — No comments. Yulia Bjekic — Ms. Bjekic inquired if there were any updates on the Weller/Central pedestrian crossing. Mr. Cassady stated that the Village is waiting on a response from IDOT on whether they would permit a full traffic signal or other modifications that would improve the operation of the crossing. Tom Manion — Mr. Manion inquired if it was possible to expand the electronic recycling hours of operation. There was general discussion about other options for electronic recycling that are available in the area. David Schein — No comments.
