HomeMy WebLinkAboutRes 36-16 11/01/2016 Honoring the Life and Legacy of Lisa AngellResolution No. 36-16 Honoring the Life and Legacy of Lisa Angell Whereas, Lisa Angell served the Village of Mount Prospect faithfully and with great distinction for 28 years beginning her career as a member of the Mount Prospect Public Works Department, promoted to Solid Waste/Environmental Services Coordinator in 1991 and was ultimately appointed Village Clerk on July 5, 2005; and Whereas, Lisa Angell proudly hailed from the state of Iowa where she earned her Bachelor of Arts in Social Work and Master of Arts in Public Administration from the University of Iowa and never missed an opportunity to connect with a fellow Hawkeye; and Whereas, Lisa Angell was bestowed the Shining Star at the Celestial Celebration on February 7, 1998 for her role in the Village's Solid Waste Program, "Waste Not, Want Not. - and Whereas, Lisa Angell served as staff liaison on the Solid Waste Commission and while serving as the Public Works Solid Waste Coordinator, she helped develop the Villages' recycling program and she would often refer to herself as the Villages' official "dumpster diver, - and Whereas, Lisa Angell personified the motto of the Village she so dearly loved, "Friendliness is a Way of Life, greeting residents daily with her warm smile and kind words; and Whereas, as Village Clerk, Lisa Angell wore many hats, serving as a Freedom of Information Officer, Deputy Registrar, the Official Keeper of Village Records and her favorite title, 'general information, - Whereas, Lisa Angell volunteered her time to "Meals on Wheels" and the Backpack Ministry at St. Raymond's Parish in Mount Prospect, donated blood regularly at the Village's monthly blood drive and was a mentor with the Human Services Mentor Program; and Whereas, Lisa Angell proudly served her fellow clerks as Vice President of Programs for the Municipal Clerk's Association of the North and Northwest Suburbs; and Whereas, as a highly regarded and respected leader, Lisa Angell brought pride, integrity and professionalism to the workplace every day; and Whereas, Lisa Angell, an advocate for health and wei/ness, walked to work every day in rain, snow, or sun, and Whereas, as Village Clerk, administered the Oath of Office to public servants who considered it an honor to receive their official appointment from Lisa Angell; and Whereas, Lisa Angell, the quintessential professional, never allowed her illness to interfere with her duties as Village Clerk, who came to work each day with a cheerful smile and bright optimism making everyone around her forget the battle she quietly and bravely was fighting; and 11hereas, Lisa Angell will be remembered as a devoted mother whose children have had a positive and productive presence in the Village, a valued employee who, even as her illness progressed, rarely missed an entire day of work in 28 years, loving friend ... too many to count, wise mentor who left shoes too big to rti/, trusted co-worker to the many who considered it a privilege to have worked besideher, a proud and respected member of the Mount Prospect community who presence will be sorely missed; and Whereas, Lisa Angell passed into etemal life on October 17, 2016 just as she lived every day of her life, with beauty, grace and dignity.
