Northwest Highway Mount Prospect, Illinois 50055 Phone BOARD OF FIRE AND POLICE COMMISSIONERS 847/870-5555 SPECIAL MEETING MINUTES July 11, 2016 Public Safety Building Fire Department Conference Room Chairperson Skowron called the meeting to order at 5:45 p.m. Roll Call: Michaele Skowron, Chairperson Charles Bennett, Commissioner Mark Busse, Commissioner Jackie Hinaber, Commissioner James Powers, Commissioner Also Present: Brian Lambel, Fire Chief APPROVAL OF MINUTES Chairperson Skowron asked for a motion to approve the Open Session Minutes of June 23, 2016. A motion was made by Commissioner Bennett and seconded by Commissioner Hinaber. Roll Call: Ayes: Bennett, Busse, Hinaber, Powers, Skowron Nays: None Abstain: None Motion Carried CITIZENS TO BE HEARD No one in attendance. APPROVE THE AMENDMENTS TO THE RULES AND REGULATIONS OF THE BOARD OF FIRE & POLICE COMMISSIONERS Chairperson Skowron asked for a motion to approve the amendments to the Rules and Regulations of the Board of Fire and Police Commissioners and forward to the Village Board for final approval. A motion was made by Commissioner Hinaber and seconded by Commissioner Powers. Roll Call: Ayes: Bennett, Busse, Hinaber, Powers, Skowron Nays: None Abstain: None Motion Carried FIRE DEPARTMENT UPDATE Fire Chief Lambel provided a brief update on staffing and new hires. Luke Rypkema was sworn in today. CLOSED SESSION Chairperson Skowron asked for a motion to go into closed session under Personnel 5 ILCS 120/2 (c) (1) - The appointment, employment, compensation, discipline, performance, or dismissal of specific employees of the public body, including hearing testimony on a complaint lodged against an employee to determine its validity and to approve the closed session minutes of June 23, 2016. A motion was made by Commissioner Busse and seconded by Commissioner Bennett to go into Closed Session at 6:03 p.m. Roll Call: Ayes: Bennett, Busse, Hinaber, Powers, Skowron Nays: None Abstain: None Motion Carried BOFPC Minutes 7/11/2016 Page 1 The Board returned to open session at 6:43 p.m. with all Board members present and Chief Janowick via telephone. Chairperson Skowron asked for a motion to support the Police Chief in taking to the Village Board the ordinance amending appointments to the Police Department. A motion was made by Commissioner Powers and seconded by Commissioner Hinaber. Roll Call: Ayes: Bennett, Busse, Hinaber, Powers, Skowron Nays: None Abstain: None Motion Carried Chairperson Skowron asked for a motion to direct the Fire Chief to discontinue the hiring process for Candidate Heslau. A motion was made by Commissioner Bennett and seconded by Commissioner Busse. Roil Call: Ayes: Bennett, Busse, Hinaber, Powers, Skowron Nays: None Abstain: None Motion Carried Other Business Chairperson Skowron reminded everyone that the next meeting is August 1, 2016.
