HomeMy WebLinkAboutRes 09-16 03/16/2016 Intergovernmental Agreement between VOMP and District 21RESOLUTION NO. 09-16 A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE EXECUTION OF AN INTERGOVERNMENTAL AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE VILLAGE OF MOUNT PROSPECT AND COMMUNITY CONSOLIDATED SCHOOL DISTRICT 21 WHEREAS, this Intergovernmental Agreement (the "Agreement) is made and entered into by and between the Community Consolidated School District 21, Cook County, Illinois (the "School") and the Village of Mount Prospect, a municipal corporation (the "Village"); and WHEREAS, both the 1970 Illinois Constitution (Article VII, Section 10) and the Intergovernmental Cooperation Act (5 ILCS 220/1 et seq.) authorize and encourage intergovernmental cooperation; and WHEREAS, this agreement is established and maintained under the authority of Section 1-7 and 5-905 of the Juvenile Court Act, Section 22-20 of the Illinois School Code, the Illinois School Student Records Act, 105 ILCS 10/ and the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act, 20 U.S.C., 1232g; and WHEREAS, this agreement is entered into and maintained in order to foster cooperation and improve the flow of information between educators and law enforcement officials. WHEREAS, the School and the Village are desirous of entering into this Agreement for the purposes of promoting safety, security, and order for the staff, students, and premises at the School and of establishing a cooperative relationship between the School's and the Village's law enforcement efforts. NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Mayor and Board of Trustees of the Village of Mount Prospect, pursuant to Article VII, Section 10 of the 1970 Constitution of the State of Illinois and the Intergovernmental Cooperation Act, 5 ILCS 220/1 through 5 ILCS 220/9: SECTION ONE: That the Board of Trustees do hereby authorize the Village of Mount Prospect to enter into an Intergovernmental Agreement Between the Village of Mount Prospect and Community School District 21 Regarding Reciprocal Reporting. SECTION TWO: That the Mayor is authorized to sign the agreement, attached and made part of this Resolution as Exhibit "A". SECTION THREE: That this Resolution shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage and approval in the manner provided by law.
