A RESOL UTION FOR THE HOLIDAY SEASON WHEREAS, the holiday season has arrived, and it is the time of the year when, as individuals and as a community, we reflect on our relationships with others, the goodwill that is shared, and all that remains to be done to create a peaceful and safe world for all; and WHEREAS, such a solemn, but joyous, time should include exchanges of concern, care, and love among all people. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE VILLAGE OF MOUNT PROSPECT, COOK COUNTY, ILLINOIS: SECTION ONE: The Mayor and Board of Trustees of the Village of Mount Prospect do extend to the citizens of Mount Prospect our sincere wishes for a joyous holiday season, and on behalf of our entire community, we extend to everyone a resolution of good faith and kindness so that there may be peace on this earth. SECTION TWO: This Resolution shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage and approval in the manner provided by law. Lisa Angell Village Clerk I,:z•ZyW_I►•r_TAIto] 011 "NATIONAL DRUNK AND DRUGGED DRIVING (3D) PREVENTION MONTH" DECEMBER 2015 WHEREAS, motor vehicle crashes killed 924 people in Illinois during 2014; and WHEREAS, hundreds of those deaths involved a driver impaired by alcohol and/or drugs; and WHEREAS, the December holiday season is traditionally one of the most deadly times of the year for impaired driving; and WHEREAS, for thousands of families across the state and nation, holidays are a time to remember loved ones lost; and WHEREAS, organizations across the state and the nation are joined with the Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over and other campaigns that foster public awareness of the dangers of impaired driving and anti -impaired driving law enforcement efforts; and WHEREAS, the Village of Mount Prospect is proud to partner with the Illinois Department of Transportation's Division of Traffic Safety and advocacy groups in the effort to make our roads and streets safer. NOW, THEREFORE, I, Arlene A. Juracek, Mayor of the Village of Mount Prospect do hereby proclaim December 2015 as "Drunk and Drugged Driving (3D) Prevention Month" in the Village of Mount Prospect and do hereby call upon all citizens, government agencies, business leaders, hospitals and other health care providers, schools and public and private institutions to promote awareness of the impaired driving problem, to support programs and policies to reduce the incidence of impaired driving and to promote safer and healthier behaviors regarding the use of alcohol and other drugs, this December holiday season and throughout the year.
