BOARD OF FIRE AND POLICE COMMISSIONERS
MINUTES
SPECIAL MEETING
August 19, 2015

Chairperson Skowron called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m.
Roll Call: Michaele Skowron, Chairperson
Charles Bennett, Commissioner
Mark Busse, Commissioner
Jackie Hinaber, Commissioner
Jim Powers, Commissioner
Also Present: Timothy Janowick, Chief of Police Chief
Everette Hill, BOFPC Attorney

Chairperson Skowron asked for a motion to go into Closed Session.

CLOSED SESSION
A motion was made by Commissioner Powers and seconded by Commissioner Bennett to go into Closed
Session at 7:02 p.m. under Personnel 5 ILCS 120/2 (c) (1) -The appointment, employment, compensation,
discipline, performance, or dismissal of specific employees of the public body, including hearing testimony
on a complaint lodged against an employee to determine its validity and to decide on the appeal of a
Suspension Order entered by the Police Chief.
Roll Call: Ayes: Bennett, Busse, Hinaber, Powers, Skowron Nays: None Motion Carried
The Board returned to Open Session at 8:33 p.m. with everyone from the previous session present
Chairperson Skowron stated the Board reviewed the ticket, the video tape of the traffic stop, the first
memo authored by Officer Santi, the second memo authored by Officer Santi, the suspension ordered by
the Chief of Police and the request from Officer Santi to the Board of Fire and Police. Based on our
review, I will entertain a motion to deny Officer Santi's appeal to us and to uphold the Police Chiefs
suspension.
A motion was made by Commissioner Hinaber and seconded by Commissioner Bennett.
Roll Call: Ayes: Bennett, Busse, Hinaber, Powers, Skowron Nays: None
Motion Carried
Chairperson Skowron reminded everyone the next regular meeting is scheduled on September it.
With no further business, a motion was made by Commissioner Powers and seconded by Commissioner
Bennett to adjourn the meeting at 8:37 p.m.
