MEETING OF APRIL 21, 1994
PRESENT: Dick Bachhuber, Rod Mobus, Harold Rentschler and Ken Westlake.
Glen R. Andler - Deputy Director Public Works
Lisa Angell - Solid Waste Coordinator (arrived at approximately 8:30 PM)
Bob Hasselbarth - Daily Herald
ABSENT: Bill Donovan, Elizabeth Herbert, Holly Johnson, George Luteri, and.
Mary Winkler.
There were not enough Commission members present at the April 21 meeting to have a quorum.
The following is a summary of the informal discussion that occurred on the 21st.
The focus of discussion was on the addition of scrap metal to the recycling program. While ARC
Disposal indicated scrap metal could be added to the recycling program the Commission members
had difficulty establishing any guidelines or what materials should be collected: It was
recommended that the subject be discussed with ARC at the next meeting between ARC and
Public Works staff.
The preparation of corrugated cardboard for curbside collection was also discussed. ARC
Disposal would like the material to be cut and/or folded into brown paper bags. The
Commission questioned why the material could not be bundled. Deputy Director Andler stated
he would ask ARC about preparation requirements.
The Commission members discussed changes to the Recycling Display to be exhibited at the
Open House. The Solid Waste Coordinator will work with Public Works staff on updating the
display based on the Commissioners' recommendations.
A schedule for manning the recycling booth was established for the members present. The Solid
Waste Coordinator will contact the other members regarding their attendance at the Open House.
There being no further discussion the meeting was closed.
