AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 20
"ANIMALS" ARTICLES I AND IV
OF THE VILLAGE CODE OF MOUNT PROSPECT, ILLINOIS
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE MAYOR AND BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE VILLAGE OF
MOUNT PROSPECT, COOK COUNTY, ILLINOIS:
SECTION 1: Section 20.101 "Definitions" of Article I "Definitions" of Chapter 20 "Animals" of the
Mount Prospect Village Code shall be amended by deleting the definition of"Vicious Animal" in its
entirety.
SECTION 2: Section 20.401 "Possession Unlawful" of Article IV"Dangerous Animals" of
Chapter 20 "Animals" of the Mount Prospect Village Code shall be amended by deleting the word
"vicious" in the first sentence.
SECTION 3: Section 20.402 "Declaration as a Dangerous Animal" of Article IV"Dangerous
Animals" of Chapter 20 "Animals" of the Mount Prospect Village Code shall be amended by adding after
the first sentence of the paragraph the following sentence which shall read as follows:
A"dangerous animal" declaration may be made for any animal which is known to have
inflicted a bite or has otherwise attacked a person or other domestic animal.
SECTION 4: This Ordinance shall be !n full force and effect from and after its passage, approval
and publication in pamphlet form in the manner provided by law.
