HomeMy WebLinkAbout06/06/2015 SEC Minutes (Draft) Mount Prospect Special Events Commission Minutes of June 6, 2015 Mount Prospect Village Hall Roll Call Vicki Busse, Maura Drew, Jill Friedrichs, Christina Greco, Linda Hoefert, Liz Stone, Teresa VanOpdorp and Tarina Wimmer Absent Sandy DiCaro, Kathy Janonis, Paul Seils and Fred Steinmiller Call to Order 9:02 a.m. Secretary's Report Motion to approve the Minutes of April 11, 2015 made by Christina Greco, seconded by Liz Stone. No discussion held. Motion approved unanimously. Financial Report A verbal report was given by Teresa VanOpdorp. 4th of July Parade There are approximately 40 units registered to date. Potential participants do not start thinking parade until school is out. Need a sign at the end of the parade saying something like "End of Parade - Follow Us To The Festival". Need a line painted in close areas that people can not cross, call Teresa prior to follow-up with what areas need to be marked. Will make it easier for SEC members to tell kids to stay back. Recommended that what golf carts have been used in the past we keep the same number - use extra cart to move participants to position. St. Paul needs to be told Maple Street will be closed at 11:45 and no cars will be permitted to Busse Automotive parking lot after that. Line-up sheet needs to be done alphabetically. Members are asked to be there at 11:45 for assignments. Community Band Concert SEC members would like to remain active in this event. The concert will be June 29, 2015 and members who are volunteering need to be there at 6:30. Handout will be what is given out at 4th of July. Bike Ride The ride will take place August 15th beginning at Melas Park. Raffle prizes are needed, as well as sponsor information available for $100 to be placed in give-away bags. SEC members volunteering for this event are to be at the park by 8:30. New Year's Eve Eve No discussion Celestial Celebration Teresa and Christina met with members of the Centennial Commission to discuss the 2017 centennial dinner. The SEC will have the lead on the event with input from the Centennial group. We need to start planning by looking for a venue, need to put together a list of needs if not in a banquet facility. All members are to start submitting thoughts to Jill via email, she will in turn compile a inclusive list. Must haves: open bar, outstanding food and not to exceed $100 per person.
