MINUTES
SPECIAL MEETING
May 18, 2015

Chairperson Skowron called the special meeting to order at 5:45 p.m.
Roll Call: Michaele Skowron, Chairperson
Mark Busse, Commissioner
Jackie Hinaber, Commissioner
James Powers, Commissioner
Also Present: Timothy Janowick, Chief of Police

No one in attendance.
DISCUSS REVISIONS TO THE BOARD OF FIRE AND POLICE COMMISSIONERS RULES AND
REGULATIONS
Chief Janowick discussed with members of Board the proposed changes drafted by Attorney Hill for their
review. Most of these changes are minor and include requirements for taking the test, which are included
in our recruiting packet. Changes are necessary for clarification of the requirements such as, the physical
ability test, vision requirement, phases of the examinations and establishment of a rolling list.
Additionally, the Board had a lengthy discussion regarding the citizenship requirement.
Chairperson Skowron asked for a motion to approve the amendments to the Board of Fire and Police
Commissioners Rules and Regulations as discussed.
A motion was made by Commissioner Hinaber and seconded by Commissioner Powers.
Roll Call: Ayes: Busse, Hinaber, Powers, Skowron Nays: None Motion Carried
Chairperson Skowron asked for a motion to ask the Village Board to amend the Mount Prospect
Ordinance to allow permanent legal residents to apply for police officer positions.
A motion was made by Commissioner Busse and seconded by Commissioner Powers.
Roll Call: Ayes: Busse, Hinaber, Powers, Skowron Nays: None Motion Carried
CLOSED SESSION
None held.
With no further business, a motion was made by Commissioner Busse and seconded by Commissioner
Powers to adjourn the meeting at 6:48 p.m.
