Mayor's Report 05/19/2015 PROCLAMATION EMERGENCY MEDICAL SERVICES WEEK MAY 17-23, 2015 WHEREAS, emergency medical services is a vital public service; and WHEREAS, the members of emergency medical service teams are ready to provide lifesaving care to those in need 24 hours a day, seven days a week; and WHEREAS, access to quality medicalcare dramatically improve the survival and recovery rate of those who experience sudden illness or injury; WHEREAS, the emergency medical services system consists of first responders, emergency medical technicians, paramedics, firefighters, educators, administrators, emergency nurses, emergency physicians and others; and WHEREAS, themembers of emergency medical service teams, whether career or volunteer, engage in thousands of hours of specialized training and continuing education to enhance their lifesaving skills; and WHEREAS, it is appropriate to recognize the value and accomplishments of emergency medical service providers by designating Emergency Medical Services Week. NOW, THEREFORE, I, Arlene A. Juracek, Mayor of the Village of Mount Prospect, Illinois, do hereby proclaim MAY 17 - 23, 2015 EMERGENCY MEDICAL SERVICES WEEK EMS Strong, with the theme, in the Village of Mount Prospect and encourage my fellow citizens to recognize and thank the dedicated members of the Mount Prospect Fire Department who selflessly provide 24-hour service to the people of Mount Prospect. __________________________ Arlene A. PROCLAMATION May 16 - 23, 2015 WHEREAS, National Safe Boating Week is part of the North American Safe Boating Campaign, which unites the efforts of a wide variety of boating safety advocates, including the United States Coast Guard, the National Association of State Boating Law Administrators, and the National Safe Boating Council; and WHEREAS, on average, 700 people die each year in boat-related accidents in the U.S.; approximately 71% of these are fatalities caused by drowning; and WHEREAS, the vast majority of these accidents are caused by human error or poor judgment and not by the boat, equipment, or environmental factors; and WHEREAS, a significant number of boaters who lose their lives by drowning each year would be alive today had they worn their life jackets; and WHEREAS, NOW, THEREFORE,I, Arlene A. Juracek, Mayor of the Village of Mount Prospect, do hereby proclaim the week of May 16-23, 2015 as in the Village of Mount Prospect, and I urge all residents to who participate in boating related activities to practice safe boating habits and to Wear It! ________________________________ Arlene A. JURACEK AND BOARD OF TRUSTEES FROM- ADMINISTRSTIVE ASSISTANT TO THE VILLAGE MANAGER DATE- MAY 12, 2015 SUBJECT: K -NAL KOREAN RESTAURANT (CURRENTLY DAE JANG KUM KOREAN RESTAURANT) 1747 W. GOLF ROAD REQUEST FOR "CLASS F-3" LIQUOR LICENSE CHANGE OF OWNERSHIP On Friday, May 8 2015, the Acting Village Manager and Administrative Assistant to the Village Manager met with applicant Young Han Hong who is currently under contract to purchase the assets and goodwill of Dae Jang Kum Korean restaurant. A "Class F-3" liquor license is currently issued to the establishment which provides for full service alcohol in a restaurant with a lounge facility. Mr. Hong is the chief investor and 100% shareholder for K -Nal Inc. d/b/a K -Nal Korean Restaurant. He has 30 years' experience as a chef and is currently the head chef at Dae Jang Kum. His wife Kyoung Han has been the manager of Dae Jang Kum for the past two years. Both will be responsible for the day -to day management of the operation. No changes will be made to the menu, decor or theme of the restaurant -which is Korean barbeque. The restaurant will be open seven days a week, offering a lunch and dinner menu. It is anticipated that the wait staff will remain the same. Discussed with the applicant were the requirements of the Village's Liquor Code including the need to be mindful of sales to minors as well as obviously intoxicated persons. The requirements of the Village's Fight Ordinance were also discussed. The Acting Village Manager also emphasized the need for appropriate controls to be in place to insure that restaurant employees do not inadvertently violate code requirements. Mr. Hong did attend the Village's sponsored Basset classroom training and indicated he understood his obligations in this regard. A completed application along with fees and required documentation is on file. If the Village Board views this application favorably, an Ordinance creating a new class "F-3" license would need to be adopted with the current "F-3" license being deleted upon completion of the sale DOREEN JAROSZ ORDINANCE NO. _____ AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 13 OF THE VILLAGE CODE OF MOUNT PROSPECT BE IT ORDAINED BY THE MAYORAND BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE VILLAGE OF MOUNT PROSPECT, COOK COUNTY, ILLINOISACTING IN THE EXERCISE OF THEIR HOME RULE POWERS: SECTION ONE: That in accordance with Subsection A of Section 13.108 of Chapter 13 of the Village Code of Mount Prospect, as amended, the Corporate Authorities shall determine the number of Liquor Licenses available in each Classification and shall establish a list specifying the number of Liquor increasing the number of Class “F-3”Liquor Licenses authorized.
