February 2, 2015

Chairperson Skowron called the meeting to order at 3:02 p.m.
Roll Call: Michaele Skowron, Chairperson
Charles Bennett, Commissioner
James Powers, Commissioner
Absent: Mark Busse, Commissioner
Jackie Hinaber, Commissioner
Also Present: John Malcolm, Fire Chief
Timothy Janowick, Chief of Police
Henry Dawson, Deputy Fire Chief
Aaron Grandgeorge, Battalion Chief
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
Chairperson Skowron asked for a motion to approve the Open Session Minutes of January 5, 2015.
A motion was made by Commissioner Bennett and seconded by Commissioner Powers.
Roll Call: Ayes: Bennett, Powers, Skowron Nays: None Abstain: None Motion Carried
CITIZENS TO BE HEARD
No one in attendance.
FIRE DEPARTMENT UPDATE
Chief Malcom reported the department is currently at full authorized strength, with approval for one
anticipatory hire. For the interviews, 23 candidates were called in order to get 16 candidates to interview.
POLICE DEPARTMENT UPDATE
Chief Janowick invited the Board members to the "Office of the Year" awards on February 17th at the
Village Board meeting.
Chairperson Skowron asked for a motion to go into closed session.
CLOSED SESSION
A motion was made by Commissioner Bennett and seconded by Commissioner Powers to go into Closed
Session at 3:10 p.m. under Personnel 5 ILCS 120/2 (c) (1)-The appointment, employment, compensation,
discipline, performance, or dismissal of specific employees of the public body, including hearing testimony
on a complaint lodged against an employee to determine its validity, to approve closed session minutes
and to conduct Fire Department background oral interviews.
Roll Call: Ayes: Bennett, Powers, Skowron Nays: None Motion Carried
The Board returned to open session at 8:17 p.m. with everyone present from the previous session, except
Fire Chief Malcolm, Chief Janowick, and Diane Rhode.

With no further business, a motion was made by Commissioner Bennett and seconded by Commissioner
Powers to adjcurn the meeting at 8:18p.m.
