ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT COMMISSION
Community Development Conference Room, Village Hall
Thursday, January 15, 2015
8:00 a.m.
The meeting of the Economic Development Commission (EDC) of the Village of Mount Prospect was

held on Thursday, January 15th in 3 Floor Executive Conference Room in the Village Hall, 50 South
Emerson Street, Mount Prospect, Illinois.
CALL TO ORDER
Vice Chairman Skip Robertson called the meeting to order at 8:00 a.m. Commissioners John Healy,
Tom Lowe, Dan Novak, and Norm Kurtz were present. Also present were Mayor Arlene Juracek, Brian
Simmons, Deputy Director of Community Development, Nellie Beckner, Long Range Planner, Marianthi
Thanopoulos, Public Information Officer and Dawn Fletcher-Collins, Executive Director of the Chamber
of Commerce.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
The minutes of the September 18, 2014 meeting were reviewed and approved unanimously.
CITIZENS TO BE HEARD
No comments.
OLD BUSINESS
Development Update
Mr. Cooney provided a brief update on various developments throughout the Village. Mr. Cooney
provided an update on several developments occurring throughout the Village.
NEW BUSINESS
2015 Economic Development Budget
Mr. Cooney distributed the draft 2015 ED Budget for review and discussion. The Commission
concurred with the recommended budget and advised staff to proceed accordingly.

1/27/15 Committee of the Whole discussion on economic development
Mr. Cooney stated that he would be presenting an overview of economic development activities and
th
efforts to the Village Board at the January 27 Committee of the Whole meeting. He invited the EDC
members to attend and participate in the discussion.
2015 EDC Goals
The commission members discussed what projects that they wished to work on throughout 2015. Mr.
Novak suggested that the EDC should focus its business visitation efforts on shopping center landlords
to determine the challenges that they are facing filling up retail space.

No new items to discuss.

The meeting was adjourned at 9:15 a.m.
