SUBJECT:DISCUSSION REGARDINGJAWA -COMMITTEE OF THE WHOLE
MEETING: MARCH 10, 2015
JAWA has been in place since the 1980sand has served as a model for
intergovernmental cooperation for supplying water to the communities of Mount
Prospect, Rolling Meadows, Hanover Park, Streamwood, Hoffman Estates,
Schaumburg, and Elk Grove Village. The discussion scheduled for the Committeeof the
Whole on March 10, 2015 will consist of a general informational presentation by Deputy
Director of JAWA, Kevin Lockhart. Kevin will provide an outline of the organizational
structure of the agency and a summary of the activities they have been involved with
recently including the relocation of the water main that is being moved from the I-90
right of way in cooperation with the Illinois Tollway Authority. Representatives of the
agency have also been actively exploring water supply options from both continuing
with the City of Chicago and alternative sources, however, much of that exploration is
not yet at the stage of public discussion. It should be noted that many options are being
explored simultaneously.
One of the critical elements that the agency is currently undertaking is the creation of a
strategic plan and the transition in leadership as the current Executive Director retires
later this spring.
