CALL TO ORDER II. ROLL CALL Present: Sharon Anderson, Alexander Bertolucci, Gerald "Skip" Farley, Janice Farley, Leo Floros, Dale Henricksen, Linda Hoefert, Patrick Mogge, Jean Murphy, Michaele Skowron, Christy Watychowicz, John Zulaski Members Absent: none Ex-officio Members Present: Mayor Arlene A. Juracek Ex-officio Members Absent: Marianthi Thanopoulos Additional Village staff members present: Public Works Director Sean Dorsey Citizens: Lindsay Rice III. APPROVAL OF MINUTES June 7, 2017 Meeting Minutes Anderson moved. Skip Farley seconded. Motion passed. III. CITIZENS TO BE HEARD Lindsay Rice IV. OLD BUSINESS A. Report: We bsite/Face book update— how is photo scavenger hunt going? - Lindsay Rice Rice has created a Pride album of photos on the web site. Centennial commission members have been asked to send photos. A faith community has been and will continue to be featured each month. Scavenger Hunt is going well. Cover photo on Face Book was updated. MPPL and MP Historical Society are collaborating on time capsule. They reached out to community leaders asking for letters to future holders of community leaders' positions. Letters are submitted sealed and will be kept sealed in archival bags in time capsule. Letters will be read in 2067. An archival bound unlined book will be available at MPPL for any/all to sign for time capsule. Rice will forward high resolution photos for Founding Family plaques to Murphy. B. Report: Sponsorships wrap-up— Skip Farley, Leo Floros, Christy Watychowicz All pledges have been collected. No additional pledges are outstanding. The Randhurst Village snowplow contractor name (the final pledge) was added to the sponsor banner. C. Time Capsule-order container and go through collected items —Jean Murphy Capsule is made of white composite material and costs $1300. Murphy will order a custom graphic for the lid for approximately $300. Total expenditure is not to exceed $1600. Zulaski moved. Hoefert seconded. Motion passed. Capsule will be sealed in late September. Murphy has asked for capsule inclusions by Sept. 6, 2017 (next meeting). The intention is to open the time capsule in 50 years in 2067. Suggestion made to specify on plaque marking the burial spot "To be opened in 2067." Some items for time capsule: Mayor's letter to Mayor of 2067. Bisque item from Sevres, France. D. Second round hydrant painting event follow up- Christy Watychowicz Watychowicz will take photos for Face Book page. She will add them to the existing hydrant album. MPPW will prime hydrants as part of their regular hydrant maintenance. E. Month of family fun events wrap-up — Sharon Anderson, Marianthi Thanopoulos Village Newsletter publicized activities. MP Historical Society sponsored a movie.4th of July Centennial fans were distributed at other summer activities. Fans will be distributed at French Market. Remaining fans will be distributed by end of September. F. Report: July event for Commissions report— Mayor Arlene Juracek. MPPW employees were the chefs. Beautiful weather and very good food made the event memorable for the approximately 100 attendees. G. Report: Founding family memorials and time capsule burial plans— Mayor Arlene Juracek The founding families are the focus of memorials. A Sevre, France contingent will be part of the reviewing stand for the 11 am, Sat., Oct 14, 2017 time capsule dedication. Anderson, Hoefert, and Skowron will help Mayor on program for time capsule burial. V. NEW BUSINESS A. Purple lights on trees again in November? —Sean Dorsey Yes, the plan was always for two years. Dorsey bought enough lights for two years. Lights will be turned off after February 2018 Village Board meeting. B. Ideas for uses for excess funds—sponsor signs in VH lobby,etc. Discussion TBD. VI. OTHER BUSINESS —member roundtable—additional ideas? Comments? Commission discussed buying an ad in Mount Prospect Journal to advertise Viet Nam half wall which will be displayed at Lake Opeka, Des Plaines in October 2017. Ad would publicize Nov. 7 talk on World War I at MPPL. We will only step in if Veterans groups cannot finance half of the ad (with the library). Hoefert moved. Floros seconded. Motion carried. Zulaski will email all school reps asking for time capsule inclusions by Tuesday, September 5, 2017 to Thanopoulos at MP Village Hall. Email will include time capsule dimensions 30.5" X 25.5" X 11". Murphy will order archival bags for time capsule. Watychowicz will create two hydrant photo books: one for time capsule and one for Village Hall display. . Murphy will ask Kleinstein to create video highlighting 2017 events. Perhaps to air at Feb. 2018 Village Board meeting. Murphy will ask Kleinstein for copies of Centennial videos on a DVD to be included in time capsule. Commission will devote September meeting to selecting items for capsule.
