HomeMy WebLinkAbout01/25/2017 CC minutesCENTENNIAL COMMISSION REGULAR MEETING MINUTES Meeting Location: Meeting Date and Time: Village Hall — 3 d floor Executive Conference Room January 25, 2017 50 South Emerson Street 3:00 p.m. Mount Prospect, Illinois 60056 I. CALL TO ORDER at 3:00 pm. Meeting was changed from first Wednesday of February to January 25 to have more time before enactment, Centennial Green dedication, and fireworks. II. ROLL CALL Present: Sharon Anderson, Alexander Bertolucci, Gerald "Skip" Farley, Leo Floros, Dale Henricksen, Patrick Mogge, Jean Murphy, Michaele Skowron, Christy Watychowicz, Members Absent: Janice Farley, Linda Hoefert, John Zulaski Ex -officio Members Present: Mayor Arlene A. Juracek, Marianthi Thanopoulos Ex -officio Members Absent: none Additional Village staff members present: MP Public Works Director Sean Dorsey, Howard Kleinstein Citizens: Jill Friedrichs, Lindsay Rice, Fred Steinmiller III. APPROVAL OF MINUTES January 4, 2017 Meeting Minutes moved by Skip Farley; seconded by Anderson. Motion passed. IV. CITIZENS TO BE HEARD None V. OLD BUSINESS A. Report: Website update - Lindsay Rice Rice has made website edits. She has added sponsors to website. Church information will be posted to website in March. Scavenger hunt for photos will be posted on website and Facebook. B. Report: Dinner video screening — Howard Kleinstein Eight minute dinner video was previewed and met w/applause and kudos. a. Report: Anniversary weekend details — Mayor Arlene Juracek, Lindsay Rice, Sharon Anderson Doors open at 7:00 pm. Re- enactment is at 7:30 pm at school house. 7:30 pm hot chocolate & cookies underwritten by MP Lions. 8:00 pm dedication in village garden. Kleinstein has tested the streaming. Banners are being made for each side of stage w/sponsors names. Alternate date is Fri, Feb. 17 for fireworks. Centennial commission members should be in screening rooms at 6:45 pm. Celestial Dinner The Centennial Commission agreed to provide a second screen to view video at Cotillion Banquets. Mike Zarnek will take photos on Feb 3&4. C. Report: Sponsorships update — Skip Farley, Leo Floros, Christy Watychowicz Committee has attained 98% of sponsorship goal. Committee will continue to work in 2017 to reach goal. D. Report: Embracing our Differences events — John Zulaski, Alex Bertolucci Bertolucci is working on a list of service providers in MP to be posted on website. Zulaski is working w/MP Library to record oral histories of recent immigrants. Project's completion is targeted for 2018. F.Report: Month of family fun events — Sharon Anderson The month of summer family fun will include July 4 Lions Parade and Carnival, Music on the Green, River Trails Park District activity, downtown block party, Randhurst activity. Publicity will be through village website, postcard, and newsletter. VI. NEW BUSINESS A. Assemble member cell phone list for use Feb. 3 in case of emergencies Murphy circulated sheet for mobile phone numbers for Feb 3 festivities contact. VII. OTHER BUSINESS — member roundtable — additional ideas? Comments? Jill Friedrichs reported on "A NIGHT TO CELEBRATE" on Sat. Feb. 4. Dinner attendance is currently 620. Penny candy will be distributed. Champagne splits will be favors at each table. A taco bar will be presented as a late night snack. Old photos on canvas will be displayed. There will be an open bar. A Centennial Commission photo will take place at 6:00 pm. Program will be done w/foil to become a collectible. Murphy & Skowron will meet before March meeting to review YTD income/expenditures. Send photos to Kleinstein for end of year collage. Floros lauded Murphy for her leadership. Rest of Commission agreed. MP Women's Club is presenting their 1917 fashion show on May 7, 2017. April 22, 2017 will be MP Historical Society dinner. "History in the headlines" dinner. Hydrants II will be on March agenda. First school house curriculum is available. VIII.
