HomeMy WebLinkAbout09/07/2016 CC MinutesCENTENNIAL COMMISSION REGULAR MEETING MINUTES Meeting Location: Meeting Date and Time: Village Hall — 3 d floor Executive Conference Room September 7, 2016 50 South Emerson Street 3:00 p.m. Mount Prospect, Illinois 60056 LCALL TO ORDER Co-chair Murphy called meeting to order at 3:05 p.m. ILROLL CALL Members Present: Sharon Anderson, Alexander Bertolucci, Gerald "Skip" Farley, Janice Farley, Leo Floros, Dale Henricksen, Patrick Mogge,Jean Murphy, Michaele Skowron, Christy Watychowicz, John Zulaski. Members Absent: Linda Hoefert Ex -officio Members Present: Mayor Arlene A. Juracek and Marianthi Thanopoulos Additional Village staff members present: MP Public Works Director Sean Dorsey, MP Fire Chief Brian Lambel, MP Finance Director Dave Urb III.APPROVAL OF MINUTES August 3, 2016 Meeting Minutes Approval Moved by Skip Farley. Seconded by Zulaski. Motion passed. IV.CITIZENS TO BE HEARD Tom Munz V.OLD BUSINESS A. Report: Website/online auctions update — Lindsay Rice Rice is working on auction process. "Auction Owl" is the software. Commemorative packages of coins and ornaments, and framed posters will be auctioned. Posters will be displayed at library once the auction site is live. There are minimum bids. An individual signed poster has been set at $75.00 per poster. The Auction will be completed in Feb. 2017. Anderson moved to go live on auction. Janice Farley seconded. Motion passed. B. Report: Educators' meeting update — Patrick Mogge, John Zulaski Education meeting took place on Aug 9, 2016. Meeting provided content for school publications to highlight centennial. St. Raymond's School will participate in Arbor Day. One of the schools is planning on wearing purple & white on Friday, February 3, 2017. Centennial will suggest purple/white to other schools. C. Report: Financial reports — Dave Erb Reported on financials through July, 2016. D. Report: Sponsorships update — Skip Farley, Leo Floros, Christy Watychowicz Tom Munz has been a part of the sponsorship working group and attended this meeting. Working group met before this meeting. Sponsorships are trickling in. Murphy will try to maximize ads. E. Report: Fire hydrant painting update (inc. concrete stickers) — Christy Watychowicz Painting started September 1, 2016. Winner will be invited to appear at the MP Village Board meeting on Dec. 6, 2016. F. Report: Vehicle stickers and business window clings — Jean Murphy Finance Department will include purple diamond logo cling and sponsorship application in business license renewal letters. Finance Dept. will include flyer to purchase yard signs at Village Hall in residential water bills. G.Report: Merchandise sales update — Sharon Anderson, Jean Murphy Sales are going slowly. H. Report: Celestial Celebration update — Mayor Arlene Juracek, Jean Murphy met with Celestial Events Committee Chair,Theresa VanOpdorp, RE Dinner dance celebration. No awards. Recognition of founding families. Local woman will sing during cocktails. Local priest and will say invocation. Mogge will look for jazz quartet in high schools. Professional Orchestra 33 will play. Local woman may be emcee. Video is from Centennial Commission. Commission will get screen -perhaps inflatable movie screen. Historic photos will be blown up, displayed, and available for sale. (.Report: Chamber book insert (copy and ad) — Jean Murphy, Leo Floros Copy is all done. Photos are all chosen. J.Report: Historic homes — Jean Murphy 38 structures qualify as historic. Janice Farley will send out letters to homeowners. Jim Miller's CERT team will install signs in historic home lawns. Lists of structures are on website so residents can view. K.Report: Outreach to Interfaith Council update — Jean Murphy St. Paul, St. Emily, and St. Raymond's have responded. Two have bells and will ring them on Dec 31, 2016. L.Report: Embracing our Differences events — John Zulaski, Alex Bertolucci Nothing to report. VI. NEW BUSINESS A. Volunteers needed for French Market pop-up store — September 18 Anderson, Janice Farley, Skip Farley, Murphy, and Skowron volunteered. B. Time capsule program at library — September 14 September 14, 2016 MP Library will have program. Items that have been dug up will be reburied in Oct. 2017. Murphy asked for suggestions. She cautioned not as much paper as 75th capsule. C. Afghan donation A purple and white afghan was donated by Laura Luteri. It will be awarded to the fire hydrant decoration winner. VII.OTHER BUSINESS — member roundtable — additional ideas? Comments? Banners advertising Fire Hydrant decorating competition will be displayed in front of each of the three fire houses during October and November. Sat. September 24, 2016 is the MP Fire Open House at downtown location. Centennial Commission will have a table from 10 to 2. Oktoberfest, Saturday, Oct 8, 2016 volunteers are needed from 1 to 5 p.m. to inform citizens. A local school is interested in staffing a table. Zulaski will follow up. Randhurst hung banners last week end. Month of July 2017 events to co -brand w/Centennial. Signage on water tower looks great. Are we planning signs on village hall? Public works?
