CALL TO ORDER Co-chair Murphy called meeting to order at 3:02 pm II. ROLL CALL Leo Floros, Jean Murphy, Michaele Skowron, and John Zulaski Members absent: Linda Hoefert, Patrick Mogge, and Christy Watychowicz Member resigned: Elaine Hundreiser Ex-officio members present: Mayor Arlene A. Juracek, David Strahl, and Marianthi Thanopoulos III. APPROVAL OF MINUTES of May 6, 2015 Meeting. Hoefert name corrected. Moved by Anderson. Seconded by Skip Farley. Motion passed. IV. CITIZENS TO BE HEARD None V. OLD BUSINESS A. Report: Progress on website Lindsay Rice The Centennial home page will feature a scrolling slide show. Content will change as it is submitted and/or occurring. The feature any year in the 100 year span. ill be hosted on the MP Historical Society Twitter Feed. The feature will run all of 2016 thru Feb 2017. Three (MPPD, RTPD, & PHPD) of the five Park Districts serving MP residents have agreed to link a feed from their electronic park brochures to the Centennial Website. Anderson will ask the other two (AHPD & DPPD) to also link. The website banner photo was discussed. Bertolucci will ask the centennial logo designer for additional work to better accommodate the website. Murphy will take some current photos to use in the NOW & THEN column. Rice has created a format. Rice will incorporate the first 15 village ordinances on the HISTORY page. School curriculum for 2 & 3 graders will be available by January 2016. Curriculum will contain approximately ten lessons and will be available on line. The school curriculum will be hosted on the MP Historical Society website. Next step for the HISTORY page is oral history and notable residents. Rice will work on information on how other entities can access and link to websites, emails, Facebook pages, & phones. The bottom of the Centennial home page will have contact info. There will also be a contact page. B. Report: Sponsorships Skip Farley, Leo Floros, Christy Watychowicz Skip Farley and Floros will start in Oct 2015 to solicit sponsorships. C. Report: Possible publication of Centennial magazine/book Leo Floros, Skip Farley Floros moved to authorize the expense of $7,000.00 to publish and distribute up to 20,000 copies. Skowron seconded. Murphy recused herself. Motion passed. Commission and MP Historical Society will submit content & photos. The Daily Herald will be responsible for the layout. D. Report: Possible musical extravaganza at Celestial Celebration Leo Floros Centennial representatives met w/Celestial Celebration representatives to discuss anniversary event. Group decided to highlight founding families and forego Shining Star awards at February 2017 event. A ten minute video will be created for the anniversary dinner, aired at the dinner, and will be made available on the centennial website. E. Report: Progress on plan for approaching area schools John Zulaski, Patrick Mogge Letters to schools will be sent in August 2015 when schools are in session. F. Report: Silver coin sales Mayor Arlene A. Juracek Several 25 year commemorative coins will also be available for sale including the one owned by Skip Farley. A package of the 2 commemorative coins (50th & 75th) and the 100th ornament are valued at $100. The packages will be auctioned online. Mayor Juracek is pursuing cases for the coins. The ornament package will be less than $15 per item. G. Report: Permanent memorial Mayor Arlene A. Juracek Mayor Juracek & Strahl will meet w/Public Works for cost estimate of memorials. The estimate will be communicated to the founding families. Brass plaques on columns w/ family names and 100th logo. (Please see May 6, 2015 minutes for additional details.) H. Report: Diversity event John Zulaski, Alex Bertolucci Actions will include the following: Identify leaders in ethnic communities. Identify activities that would bring out members. Interview relatives at Block Party. Suggest third day at the July Downtown Block Party event. Suggest Downtown Block Party. Feature restaurants/food. Around the world without leaving MP on ethnic food. MP Chamber of Commerce wants to work on event. Centennial discussed 2016 as a dry run. Zulaski will talk to Dawn Fletcher Collins at MP Chamber to identify contacts. ndrd Add international (heritage) component instead of diversity to 2/3 grade curriculum. I. Report: Re-enactment ceremony and evening Mayor Arlene A. Juracek, Sharon Anderson Attendance will be limited; therefore, invitations will be issued. Possible attendees were discussed. Perhaps elected officials, sponsors, founding families representatives. Obtain original charter. MP Historical Society will determine language & ceremony. Suggestion was made to simulcast ceremony: Village Board Room, Village Hall first floor meeting room, the library, St. Paul. Strahl will investigate feasibility and cost. The ceremony will be taped and played later on MPTV. Suggestion made to issue tickets for the Friday, Feb 3, 2017 ceremony. Suggestion made to include food with ticket. VI. NEW BUSINESS Village car sticker is due Oct 2015 for 2016 publication. Strahl will check with Finance department if prior line drawing of School House is available. MP Historical Society will follow up per Murphy. VII. OTHER BUSINESS member roundtable additional ideas? Comments? Suggestion was made to solicit a multi-faceted ornament for Celestial Celebration remembrance. the ornament. VIII.
