CALL TO ORDER Co-Chair Jean Murphy called meeting to order at 3:01 pm. II. ROLL CALL Members present: Sharon Anderson, A Leo Floros, Linda Hoefert, Patrick Mogge, Jean Murphy, Michaele Skowron, Christy Watychowicz and John Zulaski Member absent: Elaine Hundreiser Ex-officio members present: Mayor Arlene A. Juracek, David Strahl, and Marianthi Thanopoulos Ex-officio member resigned: Mike Janonis III. APPROVAL OF MINUTES March 4, 2015 Meeting Minutes: Skip Farley moved. Hoefert seconded. Motion passed. III. CITIZENS TO BE HEARD None present IV. OLD BUSINESS Report: Progress on website A. Website is progressing. Murphy reported that Lindsay Rice, independent Web contractor, will attend the next meeting to report. Murphy addressed the Village Board Trustee Steve Polit suggested that the Centennial website report an historical occurrence on each date of the celebration year. B. Report: Sponsorships Skip Farley, Leo Floros, Christy Watychowicz The first Sponsorship is Randhurst Village at $10K. Mayor Juracek will draft a letter introducing Skip Farley and Floros authorized to solicit sponsorships. Watychowicz presented a final sponsorship schedule. She will work with MP Chamber to request sponsorship insert in Chamber newsletter. A condensed sponsorship schedule will be included in Village Newsletter in several issues starting fall 2015. Zulaski will request a sponsorship insert in the MP library newsletter. Anderson will contact The MP Park District, the River Trails Park District, and the Prospect Heights Park District to insert a sponsor schedule in their brochures. High School District 214 will be asked to insert a schedule in a letter to parents. The Village will insert a schedule in water bills in the fall 2015. Watychowicz will talk to Chamber & Downtown Merchants on Sponsorship. Watychowicz will draft a letter for back of sponsorship schedule. Watychowicz will obtain an email for sponsorship activity. Skip Farley & Floros will have access to the email account. Watychowicz will draft a thank you letter to send to sponsors. C. Report: Possible publication of Centennial magazine/book Leo Floros, Skip Farley A magazine/booklet will appear in October 2016. Currently, it will be a 30 page booklet. Commission will explore with Chamber uniting the annual Chamber and the proposed Centennial magazine/booklet. The Chamber publication w/a Centennial pull out section was suggested. Magazine distribution: Paddock publishers would send to 16K households. Commission discussed drop shipping to churches and schools. D. Report: Possible musical extravaganza at Celestial Celebration Leo Floros An outdoor setting was discussed and discarded due to weather. Floros met w/Teresa Van Opdorp to discuss including a musical extravaganza at the annual Feb 2017 Celestial Event. There will be a meeting on May 28 at 7:00 pm at Village Hall w/Special Events reps, Jan Scott, Anderson, Floros, Juracek, Murphy, and Watychowicz to discuss musical. E. Report: Progress on plan for approaching area schools John Zulaski, Patrick Mogge Will contact schools in fall 2015 to inform them of village incorporation re-enactment. Re-enactment is Thanopoulos planned for Feb 2017. will create letterhead and will send to Gina?? at HS District 214. F. Report: Silver coin sales Mayor Arlene A. Juracek Major Juracek showed a teardrop glass ornament w/100 year logo and purple ribbon. The 100 year ornament and a 75th anniversary coin will be placed in a purple velvet lined box. Skip Farley brought a 25th year commemorative coin to show. He will donate to the MP Historical Society. G. Report: Permanent memorial Mayor Arlene A. Juracek Mayor Juracek will work with Murphy & Rice on drafting a memorial proposal for founding families. V. NEW BUSINESS A. Do we want to establish a Twitter account? Marianthi Thanopoulos Twitter is limited to 140 characters. Thanopoulos attended conference at which the Twitter benefits and limitation that MP should choose one social medium channel and do it well, i.e., choose between Twitter & other Social Media. Reporters use Twitter for stories. MP should build their everything on the Centennial website. Use hashtag for events. Use Instagram when applicable. B. Need someone to spearhead re-enactment ceremony and evening Sharon Anderson agreed to spearhead re-enactment. Suggestion was made that Historical Society and Centennial work together. Suggestion made to rent a Jumbo Tron for outside. Date will be the night before the 2017 Celestial Celebration. C. Need someone to be liaison to MP Chamber to discuss business fair Dawn Fletcher Collins of MP Chamber is interested in a business focused event-perhaps an Expo. Possibly working w/economic development commission. Open to community. RecPlex suggested as a site. Watychowicz will contact Collins. D. Diversity event possibly in RecPlex gym Park District? Library? Community Connections. World Fest might be a theme. Cultural showcases. Using website to showcase various cultures for a Bertolucci show. Library is interested in diversity activity. Zulaski & will get info from Library Connection. Suggested theme of July 4, 2017 parade was diversity. July 4 Lions Festival might be site for diversity activity. VI. OTHER BUSINESS member roundtable additional ideas? Comments? World Cup is in Russia in 2018. Publicity in 2018. 100 year old homes sponsorship. Murphy & Janice Farley. The list of homes and permission from the home owners is in process Hydrants. Watychowicz Watychowicz will work w/Thanopoulos to create a 4 page insert w/photo(s) for the spring 2016 Village Newsletter. If hydrant is painted incorrectly, then Public Works will repaint entire hydrant. 5:06pm Juracek left meeting. VII. NEXT MEETING July 1, 2015 3:00 p.m. VII. ADJOURN Anderson moved. Floros seconded.
